Oh my god get the i5 750, don't listen to these idiots. It performs better all round. [editline]11:59AM[/editline] Get the G.Skill RAM

If they have 2 or more PCIe x16 slots.
All i5 boards are CFX and SLI boards.... If they have 2 or more PCIe x16 slots.
Did you just completely ignore the article? The problem is, most 1156 manufacturers need to cut costs, and they do that by doing two 16x slots, but the 2nd one only runs at 4x speed, halfing your bandwith. If anyone can find a socket 1156, with dual 8x or 16x/8x under £130, will reconsider the i5.

Also I didn't read the article because of an oh so lovely DNS error.

Still have yet to find a non rip off dual 8x socket 1156 mobo though.
Gaw;23156391']is the i5 worth the extra £40~ then?
Yes And down the line if you want (and you get a good cooler) you can push that thing pretty damn far in OCing. The i5 is just a superior architecture when compared to AMD's quads.

I still think the 955 is the better buy.
Stomps everything there but the i7 965. And, it will perform better in encoding/compressing/decompressing tasks. You'll notice it in daily stuff like zip files. And its going to gain alot more than a few FPS with a healthy OC.
I wouldn't say it's worth it... And 1156 is a dead-end socket. The new "Bulldozer" might, just might, work in AM3 mobo's, and I say that is worth to consider.
Didn't AM2+ work with some AM2 motherboards? Or was it just the other way around?
Yes it did. So it's safe to assume the same will apply with AM3 and AM3+ (bulldozer) [editline]08:15PM[/editline]
Stomps everything there but the i7 965. You can't really apply the OC argument when all other CPU's can do the same.
Gaw;23156740']all other CPU's can do the same.
No, No they can't. I can guarantee that the scaling performance increase on a 955 vs the i5 is slanted heavily in the i5s favor, I.E. i5 scales better with OCing. 4GHz on air is an easy feat for the i5.
Admit it, the i5 750 is by far the better CPU between it and the 955. Don't give me overclocking bullcrap because, well, it's a load of bullcrap. The 1156 socket is not dead-end seeming it will be a while till AMD can catch up.
Gaw;23157318'][img_thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/32-p.png[/img_thumb]
Looking good.
Alright, also my friend is trying to sell me his Akasa Venom since he's getting a h50, should I buy it? Does it have good compatibility with socket 1156? How far do you think I would get?

And if you can afford the H50, I highly recommend one (I have on on my i7 930 @4.02GHz and I don't even hit 70c at load.)

[editline]10:34PM[/editline] How about the Arctic Freezer? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176157

Looks like your build beat the budget well.
