Then yeah, they're shit.
My school has those... but with OSX on them so they run like SHIT.:bang:
In our school they had Windows 98 computers until 2007 because...
1:They were so slow and shit
2:They had 1000's of viruses and outdated AVG which was eating away at the Hard drive!!
3:Some didn't even log in!!
4:If you clicked shut down it would fuck up
This too.
EDIT : By the way? Are you by chance canadian?
Linux is far too complicated compared to windows for the general public. It would only give everyone a big headache and add to the problems

The general public doesn't have a clue what Linux is, otherwise they'd know it's easier than Windows at several things. Your post proves this.
to be honest, all I think linux is missing is compatibility (without emulators)
in fact, if it would run most games(once again, stable, without using emulators) it would be my main os.

Wine isn't an emulator.

still, while it will allow you to run windows programs, they don't seem to run well.

Some of them actually run better than their native counterpart. Sure, wine doesn't work for everything, but it can do a good job.
My school uses Mac's entirely, and they're really old too. Can't install any fun stuff because, well its a Mac.

Please give me an example of what you're talking about because I use Linux on my laptop and WINE doesn't run shit even half as well as Windows does.
The schools in Putnam County Tennessee use Macs, and distribute Macbooks to the students for the year.
You scared the crap out of me when you said Putnam County. My school is in Putnam County and uses Macs :silent:

But I dont live in Tennessee :smug:
we use vista.
please dont flame
we use vista.

100th post. Win. In one day. Win..
Because linux is complex compared to windows, and nobody knows, or would seriously admit to knowing in front of their peers, how to use it.
vista > xp so yeah. good
Except for schools.
schools really don't need anything more than XP especially if it means having to remake the image they use on every system then apply that to every existing system as well, plus the existing systems might not be up to date enough to handle Vista
I don't mind being forced to use XP if only they didn't have to use the shitty silver theme
although if they used Vista I could just press Windows+Tab and be king of cool forever

Are you afraid to admit that you're basing your opinion on your idea of what linux is, too? Because once you learn it (which you need to do with every operating system by the way), it's pretty much easier than Windows.
