Intel core i7-975 x4 3.6 Ghz and ASUS ARES (HD5870 CrossFireX,true power) unlike the HD5970(underclocked HD5870 crossfireX). It's extremely pricey but its worth it as I know I wouldn't have to change any GPU for at least 6-8 years until I REALLY,REALLY couldn't run any game smoothly at low/medium settings, then it's time to change.
My way was I always go for the most powerful GPU available and hold out for several years and see how things are going on. I do not want to regret later on.
This guys seems like the "Axiom" type of person.
i7 920 + GTX 295 (soon to be a GTX 580)
My computer is BEST IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

And Windows 7 32x.
Yeah, that's right.
most of facepunch will choose quad core high end graphics card , to make their epeen look bigger
Amd x6 1055t 4.0 ghz
5850 toxic
Intel T5870 2.0ghz
250gb Hard drive
Intel x4500mhd

Windows 7.
Shit at gaming. Getting a newer one with this:
Core i7 1.6ghz
nVidia GTS 250m 1gb
640gb hard drive
4gb RAM

Why are you getting a laptop for gaming?
Why are you getting a laptop for gaming?
I play Crysis, I didn't realise it would be that demanding. Some of my games don't even run very well. I would like to get Far Cry 2 and STALKER since I like the story and graphics.
I'm also keen on video editing and photo editing. So I do need a high resolution screen to help.

Yeah, it is. It's good enough.
This chart sort of works out like this:
Single Core - I thought the CD tray was a coffee holder.
Dual Core, low-end GPU - Common killer.
Dual Core, high-end GPU - Bottlenecker
Quad Core, low-end GPU - Day at the office.
Quad Core, high-end GPU - Perfectly balanced.
Six Core - Spoiled retard.

My brother has a 250M in his overpriced laptop and he can't even run fallout 3 on high without lag.

I can just swap the card anytime in the laptop, since its MXM. I've seen some of my friends videos of him playing Crysis Wars on medium at 1600x900. Looked like it performs well, even in Far Cry 2. I'm kinda serious about performance in Garry's Mod and I have a few maps that are GPU intensive, let alone 20fps on the x4500mhd.
i5 750 @ 3.5ghz
9800GTX+ (sounds way cooler than it is) - fan fell off, so I have a hard drive cooler strapped to it xD
Intel Pentium 4. Clocked to 3.5Ghz
2 Gb DDR2 Ram
Nvidia Ge Force 210
70GB Hard Drive
Windows 7 starter.
Old ViewSonic LCD Monitor.
And, thats my Backup Pc. My current one is.
Intel i5-760, 3.2Ghz
Corsair Dominator DDR3 4GB
Nvidia GTX260
Samsung Spinpoint 1.5Tb.
Windows 7 Home Premium.
Samsung SyncMaster LED monitor.
Its good enough for me.
I see no Quad Core, Mid-Range Graphic Card. =(

Right now I'm stuck with a rather low end rig. Had a fucking beast of a desktop, but I'm not in posession of it anymore.
i5 350M @ 2.26GHZ, Quad Core (2 logical)
2gb single channel DDR3 @ 886MHZ (IIRC)
7200 RPM WD something something, can't be bothered checking model, 250gb
ATI Radeon HD 5450, 1gb VRAM and an ~800MHZ clock speed
most of facepunch will choose quad core high end graphics card , to make their epeen look bigger
yeah in an anonymous poll
CPU : AMD Phenom II 940 quad. (OC'd to 3.3Ghz)
RAM : 4Gb DDR2.
GPU : Gigabyte GTX 260.
OS : Win7 ultimate x64.
HDD : 232Gb.
HDD : 1000Gb.
PSU : 900W.
Sound : Soundblaster Audigy 4 gold.
I'm going to replace my stock AMD cooler soon since my processor is idleing at 60 degrees C.
It has been vaccumed out repeatedly and the thermal paste has been reapplied.

Get a desktop unless you want multimedia on the go, if you want a desktop replacement, do NOT get a laptop, trust me I chose a laptop over a desktop 4 years ago and it was the biggest mistake I did because I never used to travel and it was only used as a desktop replacement.
Plus you can't upgrade your CPU/Graphic card in the future if you get a laptop, so you will be stuck with that outdated laptop, for years to come (in my case).
Maybe you can change the graphic card, but remember a laptop is less powerful than a desktop and in the future you can upgrade your graphic card but your bottleneck will be your CPU.
Powerful desktop + netbook
feels good man
Phenom X4 9850
AMD HD 5770 1GB
They do everything I want them to, so I guess it's more high-end. My next rig will be AMD's bulldozer processors, and I may go with Nvidia next time because of the fast tesselation performance.
E6420 (was at 2.13, oc'd to 2.7, back to 2.13 because i fried my RAM) and a xfx gtx 260 BATMAN EDITON!
i have to put the BATMAN EDITION! when i refer to my GPU, because everything is better with batman on it

But then when I tried to post with the thing with the above specs, it froze up on me and the battery died. It doesn't like FP. :saddowns:

I'm already aware of that. I've been asked this before and its always this, I have a small bedroom which I can't fit a desk. I go out to my relatives and what if I feel like a little gaming?
I've researched this for a long time, the card is replaceable, same goes with the CPU and I know how to, I've done something like this before.
Look here:

The underside of the MSI is something like this, the card is good enough for my games like Half Life 2 on its max settings. I'm not a fan of HD gaming, mixed settings until it suits me.
MXM graphics cards is like upgrading memory, similar mechanism. And I know what to do, if that doesn't perform well, I can just take it out and put a better one in.
My laptop looks like some kind of extreme micro computer.
I have it closed on my desk with tons of cords running through it for my speakers, monitor, internet, mouse, keyboard w/ numpad.
Laptop's are a bad idea for gaming, bro.
[editline]14th November 2010[/editline]
I wouldn't really trust changing the card on it.
Temperatures could ramp up pretty well.

I don't want to have an argument about this already, I have my own chances.
