If we're going to sink into the deep end of stereotyping, shouldn't they be on Xbawxes?
Stereotyping is just what you guys are doing so you don't have anything to tell us.
Reasons why I love my Mac:
- It's been in the family for at least 5 years, it's pretty much my brother.
- It's absolutely beautiful. I have never seen, and probably never will see, a better looking computer than mine.
- I don't use it for games at all. I hardly ever play video games in my house anyway.
- I never need to upgrade my internal hardware. It works fine stock.
- Sometimes, it does get slow and I get annoyed, and I remember saying I will replace it with a PC one day, but it's just a phase with an aging Mac.
- All my life, I've only really owned Macs. Once had an OS 7.9 I think. Then I got a crappy Windows 95. Then this current one which can only run Tiger.
- I can see ahead and I know I will be sad when I do replace it.
I don't see why it's hated. I know PC's can be better, and quite a lot are, but I feel a connection with my Mac. Not all of us are elitist jerks. It's also nice to see that a few Windows users are at least pleasant. And to those Windows users: http://www.facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=343.
Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Now I expect a lot boxes and one or two hearts.
Am I the only one who owns a Mac and doesn't give 2 shits about using OSX? I end up using Windows 7 on this thing most of the time. IMHO, OS X is just ricer crap. All they did was make this BSD based operating system, stick a bunch of fancy features and effects on it, put it on a computer with some shiny casing, stick their logo on it and add a large price tag, saying "you're paying for the mac experience".
There's nothing special about the mac experience, except that you get to fuck around with the windows like it's no one's business and brag to your buddies on Facepunch how you just bought an overpriced computer with a pretty looking OS. I have yet to see one thing that this stupid OS does "better" than windows.
I'm sure your guys' money has at least gone to a special place inside Steve's wallet.
I'm sure your guys' money has at least gone to a special place inside Steve's wallet.
Better than going into Bill's.
Better than going into Bill's.
At least Bill deserved it.
The trolls wow.
What people fail to realize is that mac based and windows based computers are for different purposes. Mac's are good for editing, and windows are good for the general lot of things you would buy a computer for. Somethings are better on windows, some things are better on mac. Mac's are good computers, and I see why you would pay a bit extra for them. (Because of their construction)
I don't hate macs. I honestly hate apple right now. Or atleast their marketing department. Like earlier stated ITT, Instead of showing reasons why your next personal computing device should be a mac, their just bashing windows. Now, of course microsoft can skip over one or two problems can linger from an old operating system, but it's not like they portray it on the apple commercials. New operating systems come with new problems figured out through regular useage. But anyone who frequently visits the whole hardware and software forum knows this.
Will everybody shut up about the adverts, they're just a good laugh.
What apple are trying to do in those adverts is point out where they are better than Windows at certain things, and to dispel certain presumptions that people make when they look at a Mac. (That they're only for kids, or playing music for example. You can actually do real work on them.)
Are you sure that isn't like an old Macbook with Intel graphics? Video playback on my 9400M is flawless even with like 4 videos playing and heavy use of expose (I was testing it :v:)
Yeah I've seen all kinds of tearing on all kinds of Macs. :/
It's just like the Ps3, people still say stuff like: it has no games, the online experience sucks and so on. Just because it had a slow start. Even tough it doesn't have close to as manny games as the xbox it still has loads of good games. (I don't really like the Ps3 myself, but I don't rant about it because of that)
Okay, first of all: No. Just no. Cheaper, hah, that's a good one.
Second of all, the only reason you would get bloatware is if you're being a retard and running every .exe that comes along.
I can assure you if you were to buy a similarly outfitted Wintel PC with a good display and all the fancy connection options with a good sturdy case that was fairly silent you'd be paying twice the bleeding price. The PC itself may look cheaper but all the extras that people don't usually factor into it cost a lot too. If you want the kind of display quality you get in a Mac you can easily pay as much for the display as for the rest of the PC.
And Apple can pride themselves of being one of the very few OEM's who ship without bloatware.
You don't seem to understand what people are saying, macs don't need direct x as it's not a gaming OS, it's not made for games and people that use it don't play games.
What do you mean it's not a gaming OS? Bungie, Cyan, Lemmings, etc. all that shit was on the Mac. Apple approached Valve about getting games from Steam on OSX IIRC, sure as hell it's a gaming OS. They know a lot of the desktop audience are gamers and they want a piece of that cake. They just fail at it.
Half the reason I hate macs and mac users is because they feel the need to create threads like this.

Their a plain undercut at windows. And microsoft may not be the best company either, but they don't sink as low as to be in pissing match that apple has put out. I mean apple puts out a good products, but their marketing is just down right dirty. That would be like me running for a state political position. I say my opponent will do this, and that, and this, and that, and all of this and that will be bad if you vote for him, but I don't give details or information on why I am the better choice.

To be honest that's exactly the vibe I get from the ads. Windows better for real work, mac better for "creative" stuff as they put it.
While failing to address that photoshop cs4 ran better on vista than it did on OSx and a couple of other things.
I have to agree with the majority here.
I don't dislike mac computers per see, but the way apple flaunts the "mac experience" which to be honest is not that much more different. And I personally prefer windows and it's application on my day to day basis.
The alumium cases are sure sexy though. There's no denying that.
At the same time some applications that apple puts are just awful. Itunes for windows would be a good example. It might be somewhat better on the mac, I can't say as I've never used that application on one, but overall it's slow, lumbers around network libraries like a blind lemming and has a habbit of bringing more with it than you want.

In those ads they're implying that Mac doesn't have a lot of the flaws that a Windows PC might have. At least that's what I took from those ads.
Half the reason I hate macs and mac users is because they feel the need to create threads like this.
For such a sophisticated piece of machinery the user base is the most ignorant group of people I have ever seen though.
There is only one dislike I have of macs though.
The fact that people think because they have one these is no way, no how, they can get a virus.
Any system can get a virus... But more valuable targets use windows (Servers and offices). Besides, I use common sense on my windows machine. I can spot bullshit if I see it. And if it doesn't look like bullshit, but turns out to be, that's why we have virus protection.

I'm going to say the majority of people wont see that. Hell, I didn't even see it the first few times I watched the "Not gonna have any of the problems my last operating system had". Though the third time it became apparent.

And a few people on that first mac video is the ignorance I am talking about.
Fanboy's who blindly defend their brand without any research into the other side.
But yeah that one does show differences.

I'm very confused on what side that post was.
I'm very confused on what side that post was.
I post semi neutrally about this subject.
I love how whenever someone posts some thing positive about a Mac, OP comes in to say "Yeah! That's exactly what I'm saying!"
I post semi neutrally about this subject.
I realized that, but I'm still confused by the post.
This is going to end badly.
There is no reason to troll someone for using different hardware / OS'.
