Power on password is done by BIOS, before any software (including OS or booting from cd/usb) is loaded
Thats right Goz3rr. and aint it a bitch! Im thinking of adding a power on password to my dads pc so that we can extange passwords :P
It good to know that it will work though. I think that i will now invest in one.
Thanks All!
Hi everyone,
I am in a similar position with my dad as well...
He has put a bios password so I actually can't do nothing.
The hardware keyloger is a good idea. I have a desk, and a Gigabyte fx990-ud3 motherboard... Any other ideas?
Many thanks for any answers
Your dad should know it's EXTREMELY easy to remove a system password, removing the CMOS battery works, OR removing the password reset jumper, which removes the password completely from the system, maybe if you even leave the jumper removed your dad won't be able to install a password at all. Not sure if my theory about this is correct however.
It's even easier than bumping a 2 y/o thread.

Haven't even taken a look at the date, it was on the second page of Technical Support for some reason.
Some sub-forums don't get updated very often
Go find a kitten. Put the kitten in the computer case, and shut the computer down. Wait.
Let the drum roll begin.
So why did you get grounded, hm?
Also, how many computers are in your house? How many are yours, his, etc?
There has got to be a reason he locked it from you, because if there is not, then I would suggest you call a psychologist for your dad. Don't be afraid of the man, if he attacks you physically, ESPECIALLY over some computer bullshit, that is assault.
I'm not saying fuck the man over, just have him understand it's your property, perhaps you could step up your game to do dishes and clean the house though, get outside more. IDK with my dad, still living at home, I find it best to not be on the computer 24/7. If I am he points out I'm not doing a damn thing, and wasting my life, and threatens to cut the power cords in 2, which I have many of, but it's principle.
