Uhm I thought I am given the choice to "Yes, I want to run it" when I run new programs.
That's how it worked with other type of programs too..
So please don't tell me it's THAT "are u running it as admin?" ALL OVER AGAIN! (I mean I just had windows xp not long ago)
Fuck..
Also tried shift-right-clicking the small icons on my taskbar, propertias, change icon, finding the Token.ICO file for it, and it didn't change on the taskbar, but it did in the properties.
So fuck this. I'm pretty sure you guys have no idea why this happens or whatever so.. my case will be ignored from now on :v:
Right click>Run As Administrator
As for the tray Icons, I have no idea.
Right click>Run As Administrator

right click what as an administrator? the icon on the taskbar (that bottom taskbar with start globe too), or what? the vlc launcher in vlc folder? dont see any other thing to run as an administrator, if it were for the vlc icon to change. so?
Yay windows 7 is so good and easy to mod yeah!
also tray icons? you mean the taskbar icons or..? i dont have desktop icons, none at all. so no need to change them, because there are none.
The icons in the taskbar you can just create new shortcuts on the desktop or a in a folder, change the icon on that and then pin it to the taskbar.
Ah alright. Also, right now I have ccleaner, malwarebytes, utorrent, vlc, spotify, steam, chrome pinned on the taskbar, but can the paths be fucked up? I got 7zip pinned too, but if i try run a zip file straight by double clicking it, 7zip won't open it, so i have to open 7zip manually first, then choose the zip file from there. (though i got all downloads from browsers/utorrent directed to 1 specific folder)
edit also No, I shift-right-clicked VLC from taskbar, changed the icon to the new one, removed it from taskbar, went to VLC folder and dragged the vlc-launcher to desktop, pinned it to the taskbar again, but it looks the same as ever.
So what conclusion am I left to draw? Fuck it.
edit 2 oh now vlc won't start up by clicking the icon on the taskbar. great. glad i didnt mess with the other yet.
oh nvm, got the vlc.launcher from the trashcan, back to VLC folder and pinned to taskbar, looks same as ever but works, i don't know if I should even bother any more.
How to get compressed files to open with 7zip:
Right click the compressed file > Open with > Choose Default Program > Make sure "Always use the selected program blah blah blah" is checked > Browse... > Go to the 7zip folder > Choose 7zFM.exe
You may need to repeat this process for each type of compressed file (ZIP, RAR, TAR, etc).
How to customize icons on the Taskbar:
Close the program if it is running, unpin it from the taskbar if it is pinned. Type the program's name in the startmenu to search for it.
If the program shows up:
That should be its startmenu shortcut. Right click it, choose the desired icon (a .ico file).
If the program doesn't show up:
Right click "All Programs" > Open > Double click "Programs" > Right click > New > Shortcut. Make it point to the desired file. Right click it, choose the desired icon.
Then:
Run the program from the shortcut you just found/created. It should now be in the taskbar with the correct icon. Pin that shit. Stop whining.
If none of that works, you fucked something up. Completely uninstall and reinstall the program that is misbehaving.

I do this right, but when I start the program, the icon is back to normal. Unless I make the icons combine which I don't like. Also, where can I find a start icon that look like the Flurrian icons?

It's the not combining that is probably screwing it up.

No way, I'm using Shine 2.0 but my top right buttons seem bigger. Maybe some variation or something?
No way, I'm using Shine 2.0 but my top right buttons seem bigger. Maybe some variation or something?
You can change the buttons' size from Personalize > Window Color > Advanced appearance settings... > Caption Buttons
Yup, I've fiddled with my settings for it.
I'm still on vista :saddowns:
But I'll install 7 on my new rig, when the parts arrive, I just have some questions.
http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/?order=9&offset=24#/d2xsha2 is this okay to change the start orb and theme?
Is it possible to stop folders grouping on the bar at the bottom, and how do you make the start bar at the top?

Good looking desktop. Disregard that dumb, Ca5bah hates everything to do with rainmeter, no matter how useful or good looking it is.
this thread was interesting before every desktop became plain and boring
at the very least we had something to laugh at before the whole "ultra clean and fancy desktop" fad :saddowns:
Anybody have a reference desktop.htt for xp? Mine seems to be borked (general error around line 65) and I can't use a wallpaper.
