Alright. 32gb wifi or 16gb wifi-3g? will 500mb a month be okay (for a 3g plan)? I consider myself a very low user and would mostly just use it once or twice a week on the bus to look at reddit and whatnot. what colour is the sky?
So I came home eager to go on Engadget and read up on this iPad 2 and.. What the fuck is this shit? - It's still the same fucking thing as the iPad 1 except a little faster - They're trying to charge 40 bucks extra for HDMI output? Fuck off - iOS still looks the same, and it's still really unintuitive on a screen that large - Those iLife apps better not be iPad 2 exclusive - This design looks like ass. I never thought in a million years Apple would have a product that looks this horrible Honestly, this is pathetic. The whole time I was thinking there'd be a "There is one more thing" at the end. Nope. Here's an iPad 2, still the same huge price, and it still doesn't have Flash. Welp, bring on WebOS and Windows 8. Either way, there's no way I'm trading my iPad for an iPad 2. It's just not worth it at all.
I'm sure Flash would run great on this, if they actually gave Adobe a try..

I was hoping for new style notifications and more additions/changes to iOS in general, lack of which is disappointing. I don't see iMovie running on the iPad 1 as it doesn't have cameras and will be slower, not sure about Garageband. What do you use your iPad for Spyder? browsing and something to use on trips/getaways?

But there's nothing in particular it does better than my laptop, and that's the issue. I wished they'd sort of fix that a little bit with iPad 2, but the same crap still applies: I still can't browse a lot of sites due to lack of standards compliance and lack of Flash. Web browsing is supposed to be nice and fun but the lack of RAM kills it. I realize this version here might fix that, but I'm not spending 500 dollars to get the browser it should have shipped with in the beginning. It's Apple's strategy and it works. That's why they're the richest gadget company out there. This might convince some people to buy an iPad 2 and sell their iPad 1. I sure as hell thought about it. But there's just no way I'm going to fall into this pit trap. Next step for me is something from the "copycats." Or maybe just a good ol' Windows tablet. Or maybe I should just give up on tablets for now. Anyway, like you said, my biggest disappointment has to be that they didn't do shit to iOS. It's still the same boring thing I've known from 2007.

"Now 0.10 microns THINNER!"
I've seen Android running Flash and it isn't pretty. Windows seems to be only thing out there capable of running Flash well. And the Xoom hasn't exactly been given any glowing reviews yet. I had a lot of faith in Honeycomb at first but the Xoom changed my mind. Argh, I wish there was a Windows tablet out there that doesn't have a shit battery life. I'd buy it yesterday.

The video Engadget put up seemed good, although the browsing on their site wasn't perfect with the checker boarding and whatnot. Same RAM in iPad 2 I think which is a surprise. Well they've tweaked Safari for more speed and you'll get that in the new iOS update, so if you're going to keep the iPad 1 you'll still get that at least.

It looks great though, and it has got multitasking.

[editline]2nd March 2011[/editline] I just love the idea of a Windows 7 tablet, though. Being able to use all the programs I want on a tablet. But it's the shit battery life across the board that puts me off.

But yeah, Windows 7 would be great with a atleast decent battery life (~6 Hours for my part would do it), but performance has to keep up.

I'm sure there will be better versions/ alternatives come out after it gets more mainstream in the tablet market. Look at the smartphone focused Android builds people make for example. A few of them change the UI a bit if I remember.

I'm really looking forward to all the devices coming out this year. Tablets are slowly but surely getting as usable as laptop computers, performance and UI wise.
I'm sure Flash would run great on this, if they actually gave Adobe a try..
They did give Adobe a try and they presented them with something that destroyed the battery life.
just wait for the asus eee line of tablets to come out, then everything will be better
Indeed. I'm also waiting for Lenovo's tablets. [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline]
They did give Adobe a try and they presented them with something that destroyed the battery life.
Cool, that was 2007. Meanwhile, Frash came out and proved to everyone just how well Flash runs on iOS. Videos weren't working but Flash animations and menus worked just fine. EDIT: Also, isn't the Eee Slate already out?
Fuck the HTC Thunderbolt, that thing is taking too long to come out. I'm getting the iPad 2 Wifi+3G model, probably 32gb. [editline].[/editline]
The Smart Cover and iPad 2 were made for each other. Literally. Built-in magnets draw the Smart Cover to iPad for a perfect fit that not only protects, but also wakes up, stands up, and brightens up your iPad. That’s not just smart. It’s genius.
defs buying this. been wanting an ipad for ages and this looks awesome
The iPad Smart Cover looks interesting too. Way better than the first iPad case that Apple had on their website.
The iPad Smart Cover looks interesting too. Way better than the first iPad case that Apple had on their website.
The book case? I thought it looked great. Well for Photography, using an iPad as a digital portfolio and having the book case would look great for showing others your work. A snappy tablet for browsing, bit of gaming and a digital type portfolio would be nice for me in the future.
Well, I ended up getting the Eee Slate. It's awesome.

It looked OK, but wasn't great quality. The edges were a tad sharp from where the machine cut it, the price was too high, and when you the elasticity of the case when you fold it was sort of poor.

But it looks like the new case fixes that.
Well, I ended up getting the Eee Slate. It's awesome.
I'd rather get a netbook than that thing... it's like a netbook without a keyboard. iPad is nice because it's a tablet that has its unique qualities.
If anything the iPad2 is what the iPhone 3G is to the first iPhone. Its not for upgrading, its for people who didn't think the $500 base was worth it the first time around. Well unless your an Apple fanboy/girl like my mom. :v:
I'm looking forward to Photo Booth on iPad 2.
Hmm. So the Eee Slate is really nice, but the battery life is pretty horribad. Yeah, I'm returning it. It's really good, but the battery life is what kills it. I guess I'm going to try Honeycomb next.
I thought the iPad already had a camera.
