AWESOME, let's buy a new one every year! Pay whatever they ask for it!
[editline]2nd March 2011[/editline]
I thought the iPad already had a camera.
Why put it on when you can add it onto later releases, so people want to buy it?
can you get these shipped from the US to australia? aus has the delayed release again and i don't think you could do it with the first ipad but maybe things have changed this time
So does the iPad 2 have the background effects in photo booth?

Well, there are people like me who passed on the 1st gen iPad and waited for this nice iPad 2, at a lower price with more features.

It's the same price and there aren't any mind-blowing new features.
I'd wait for the iPad 3. Maybe by then they'll have actually done shit to the OS.
"Come see what 2011 wil be the year of" ? How much fapping to your mirror reflection do you have to do to make that up
I´m not that excited about the iPad 2.. will probably get a Galaxy Tab 10.1 if anything.

Wow, Apple.
They misquoted it, too. The VP actually said "quite smooth," not "quite small."
So I came home eager to go on Engadget and read up on this iPad 2 and..
What the fuck is this shit?
- It's still the same fucking thing as the iPad 1 except a little faster
- They're trying to charge 40 bucks extra for HDMI output? Fuck off
- iOS still looks the same, and it's still really unintuitive on a screen that large
- Those iLife apps better not be iPad 2 exclusive
- This design looks like ass. I never thought in a million years Apple would have a product that looks this horrible
Honestly, this is pathetic. The whole time I was thinking there'd be a "There is one more thing" at the end. Nope. Here's an iPad 2, still the same huge price, and it still doesn't have Flash.
Welp, bring on WebOS and Windows 8. Either way, there's no way I'm trading my iPad for an iPad 2. It's just not worth it at all.
Flash is horrible. This Ipad is Kickass. Why are you Windows fanboy, anti-apple here anyway?
Flash is horrible. This Ipad is Kickass. Why are you Windows fanboy, anti-apple here anyway?
Yeah, Flash is so horrible it accounts for around 80% of the web's interactive content, including videos. Clearly that kind of adoption could only happen to a horrible product.
This iPad is not kickass.
I'm not anti-Apple. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought an iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, and an iPad. I just don't kiss their ass every step of the way like you do.
I think you belong better in MacRumors. You'll find people that are equally...gifted.
Turns out its gonna have 256 mb of RAM. Its losing out!
One of guys demoing the iPad 2 in London stoked our worst fears about why Apple's not being too open with the amount of RAM in the iPad 2: He said it's only got 256MB. The same as in the first iPad. Ouch.
It almost doesn't make sense. Like, we're hope he's wrong, that Apple gave their Brits inaccurate info, that the demo dude didn't know what he was talking about. That's less than iPhone 4's 512MB, less than the Motorola Xoom and Atrix 4G's 1GB of memory.
So we asked again, to reconfirm. That's when the head PR person at the event came over. Their response? The guy shouldn't have said anything about that RAM. And, "I can't confirm if that is true or not."
As fast the A5 chip and new graphics performance may be, if the iPad 2 really only has 256MB of memory, that's gonna create a whole different kind of performance bottleneck. Logically, we'd have guessed it has 1GB. But it's gotta have at least as much as the iPhone 4.

Flash is a dying technology. If you take a look at the www.apple.com, you will see that HTML5 is going to take over. Flash will die, flash is horrible, flash have alot of bugs.
The Ipad 2 is just what everyone wanted. The only negative thing here is the OS. It's no doubt the best Tablet OS out there, but they could improve/upgrade it.

Tsk tsk, that's where you're wrong.
Here's exactly what happened. Since Apple started their big campaign against Flash, they couldn't possibly anticipate what was going to happen next. Instead of HTML5 rising and Flash dying, HTML5 saw increases in uses whilst Flash...
grew? Yes. It appears Apple says no, and suddenly everyone else says "Yes!" Flash has never, ever been a selling point for devices until now. The PSP has Flash on it. Have you heard about it? Doubt it. Meanwhile, Android 2.2 has Flash on it. Have you heard about it? Oh I bet your ass you did.
Apple's sad little plan here completely backfired and thus Flash is more popular than ever. It's simply on more devices nowadays than it has ever been before, and not only that, but it has improved dramatically over the years, both in power efficiency and hardware utilization. And guess who's the elephant in the room? Apple. Not to say they're kicking themselves, however. Not when they have such a loyal fanbase that can't seem to do anything but echo what Apple shovels at them, not to mention the fact that allowing Flash on iOS would decimate app sales. Flash dying? Hah, please.
Wait, I just re-read your post.
Are you possibly being..sarcastic? I'm sorry if I couldn't detect it, but I am used to reading stuff like this on MacRumors quite often.
EDIT: Oh God, you're serious aren't you? Welp, I rest my case.

Facedesk.
I thought that 256MB of RAM on the iPad 1 is a joke but always thought that they'd fix it on the iPad 2.
NOPE. The iPad 2 will STILL have apps that quit in the background all the time and will still have Safari frantically reloading tabs. Sigh.
It is a wise move for apple not to fall for the curse of the flash.
They simply don't want to use dying, unstable technologies.
Thats what makes Apple the unique company it is.
Horrible companies like LG, SAMSUNG and all the other companies try to create tablets are SO horrible.
Not a single tablet out there can match the Ipad.
To say that Flash usage has increased is so incorrect that my eyes bleed from reading this crap.
HTML5 is the new shit in town.
If I put it this way, flash is going to stick it in her pooper while the HTML5 does a barrel roll.
iPad doesn't seem to be worth the money when you already have a laptop or an iPhone.

iPad should have a camera and a motion tracker device
iPad doesn't seem to be worth the money when you already have a laptop or an iPhone.
I think that applies to every tablet device ever.
iPad doesn't seem to be worth the money when you already have a laptop or an iPhone.
it all depends on what you want to use it for. i don't think already having an iphone really applies since they're different form factors and aren't really intended for the same thing. if you enjoy reading stuff and playing a couple apps and other simple things, an ipad is great to quickly get at the content and without the bulk of the laptop getting in the way
on the other hand if you want to play games or do heavy word processing and stuff like that a laptop is the obvious choice. it really boils down to your personal preference and your personal needs so in the end comparing an ipad to a laptop and iphone is like comparing apples to oranges to bananas
This is pretty much going to be perfect for me when I go back to University in September!
I'll be having a noteslate if they turn out not to be vapourware.
Then an android 3.0 tablet once they come down in price, and the platform matures.
so, it can output 1080p, meaning it most likely can playback and output 1080p videos, but it instead it outputs videos at 720p because why, exactly? does apple just have this ongoing thing against 1080p? i mean apple tv also lacks 1080p playback, when it really should have it.

i'd say the noteslate is a huge chunk of overhyped vaporware. essentially all you can do with it is write shit and draw shit. it's electric paper - paper you can't even fold into a plane (without totally destroying it anyway).
It is a wise move for apple not to fall for the curse of the flash.

They should use dying, unstable technologies if half the internet is using them, since their products themselves are constantly being replaced by new crap that adds a couple gimmick functions and loses a couple milimeters in size.
They can bring the Ipad 3 with no flash in a year, when the major video sites have completely changed to HTML5 or some other tech. For now, it's a wise choice to include Flash in a product.
They explicitly said during the conference that it outputs at 1080p ???
yes, i didn't say otherwise, note i said "it outputs videos at 720p", there was an engadget article mentioning this, having trouble tracking it down since there are different articles today and about 20 of them regarding iPad 2.
http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2011/03/ipad-2-faster-thinner-lighter-same-battery-display-resolution.ars
this states that the codec itself is for 720p max, so, the most you're getting out of the 1080p output is 720p video upscaled to 1080p. in other words, no 1080p video output.

and again, at the end of the first paragraph "However, like the Apple TV, movies are limited to 720p output."

I have been waiting a year for this iPad, I opted out of getting to first one because after I saw the iphone 4 i figured then next iPad would be awesome as fuck. I have not been let down, I love how they managed to personify the iPad in the video showing off the smart covers:
Although I am a fan of apple and all of their products I can't help but wonder if the time is soon approaching where we will see a repeat of the early '80s and late '90s. While for me iOS is convenient and easy to use, others ling for the personalization factor of Android. Apple should be making their software (at least) so that people shouldn't want to jailbreak their devices the instant they take them out of the box. I am also not very pleased with the newest screws apple has used on their newest macbooks. If apple is going to do things their way they should at least let the consumers buying their products personalize the way they interact with them, so that the product does things apple's way the way the consumer wants it too. As it stands now apple is customizing the way we act with their devices. But I am optimistic that this will change given the right circumstances.
Oh fuck, the only good colors for the Smartcase are $70.
