Also charters bandwidth limit is 100 gigs.
If you're referring to the down pipe, 100Gbit isn't even even supported, or even thought about with IEEE.
If you're talking about a bandwidth cap, then that must be you. I have well downloaded/surpassed 100Gbit without an issue from them.
So this might explain my new high speeds. But for some reason, I've only been getting around 2mbps lately and I have the 8mbps one, they might be working on the lines or something but it sucks.
Sweet. I noticed how stuff was loading a bit faster when browsing. I've been a charter customer since I moved into this house. This is not the first time they've done this, I don't think. I remember I got upgraded to 10MB/s until December in 08 for free.

No I am talking about bandwidth.
Nope bandwidth is how much you can download.
No, bandwidth is transfer rate. The speeds in the OP are bandwidths. Data caps are completely different and refer to a set data quota that cannot be exceeded over a certain period (usually monthly)
Unless you want to tell me google is wrong.

It's people like you, who go around posting incorrect information all day turning this site into the shitpile it has become, who drive me away from facepunch more and more every day. Zorlok left this site a while back after he decided facepunch has become too shitty for him, and he tells me you're a prime example of why. And, quite honestly, i have to agree with him.

No really ask your internet provider your bandwidth cap and they will tell you a certain amount of gigs. I asked charter a while ago and mine is 100 gigs. Bandwidth is normally thought as you data transmition rate though so it can be used in either way.

Yes, but Mblunk is correct and bandwidth does not at all refer to any sort of data cap.
Also ah, Mblunk, that would explain why both you and Zorlok never seem to be around here anymore. That's quite a shame, really.

You ever wonder why you can get X tb of bandwidth for server rentals. That is because that is how much data can be downloaded or uploaded to them.

It is your ping not your connection speed.

Well what should I say to customer support, I told them what was up and they insisted it was my computer even though it was a fresh install on windows 7.
Before I had something like 24 d/l speed and now it was around 12. I have Road Runner. I'm not sure what speeds my parents pay for though.

Is it plugged directly into the broadband modem or whatever you get? Or does it go through a router?

It goes through a router, we have two routers (only one is used) and the problem is the same with both of them.

Do the ping test.

My sister goes to a college of maybe 1000 and they get 40 down and 40 up.
Comcast isn't bad

Fuck this shit mang
And apparently I'm getting barely half of my ISP average. I've got a suspicion there's something wrong locally too. Once I get some kind of proper income I'll use some of it to contribute to better internet.
Here's the ping test.

There is your problem

This is the ping I get. You could still call them and say there latency is high.
