I'm using it now. But, I haven't updated. Lucky on my end, somebody warned me on this server I was playing on.
Question is? Do I delete AVG and what should I replace it with.
They have already pulled the update out. You should be fine now.
Up to you If you still want to switch though.
NOD32 represent.
Seriously, I'd rather dish out some money than be stuck with something that isn't as effective. A NOD32 license is cheap as fuck anyway.
NOD32 is basic as fuck and not worth paying for.
Who the fuck uses AVG anyway ?
it's the worst fucking AV on the surface of this planet, and if you just want to get a cheap antivirus just install MSE, at least it won't fuck your PC and it's free for any windows user.
I use the best antivirus of them all
Just stop. It is possible to keep a computer running smooth without AV
/thread
I'm not going to stop and lie because you told me to. It's impossible to prevent drive-by exploits without an AV with heuristics. Even UAC gets broken once in a while. You simply want many layers of protection if you're running a Windows-based PC. Like I said many many times, you get protection for the few times you are attacked, you don't get protection to prevent those attacks, but to make them ineffective.
I'm fine with trading off an hour of my time for not having an AV bitch at me everytime I try to do something and always running the background and all that shit
1995 was fun like that. This is 2010 though.
Cool retort bro.
I didn't want to spend 5 minutes typing a reply when you have a Linux fanboyism history anyway. I can never tell if you're serious or trolling anymore. Asking why an anti-virus needs higher privileges than the viruses? Really? And you don't see how that enables the program to fuck Windows up? At all?
Come on. You're smarter than that.
it's the worst fucking AV on the surface of this planet
Norton. Your argument is invalid.
I think McAfee is actually worse, since it already pulled the fuck over Windows trick, while Norton has yet to do so.
Does this happen to the free version of AVG 2011? I have Free AVG and I never got the patch. :smug:
Switching to Comodo now... Nothing happened to me, but I don't want something to happen down the road. My computer HAS been running like shit lately though.

Yes, thanks for agreeing. It's completely random whether you get infected or not, which means everyone is going to have a different story.

Works like a charm.
Wow do I honestly need to switch antivirus software again. I've used everything and eventually it fucks up. I could try Avast again but I'll have to tweak some settings so that it doesn't disable my internet connection like last time.
Norton. Your argument is invalid.
Recent versions of Norton have actually been rated very good according to that AV Comparatives site
Comodo in gaming mode.
Comodo Firewall, block or allow?
They should have a fuck off option.
Microsoft Security Essentials + Spybot Search & Destroy + Common sense = Unbeatable.
Even though this was 6 days ago I was unaffected in any way. What the hell?
I really don't understand why people don't use MSE it is pretty good
Are you fucking mad?

All I see is a picture of Bill Gates.
Hasn't this exact same thing happened a year or 2 back?
I remember having to fix loads of PCs which didn't boot because of AVG.
