How much cooling paste do you guys use for your 212+? I've heard that you have too use pretty much because of the pipes.
My Noctua NH-D14 does like 33c, 35c, 36c, 38c idle on my i7 2600k in my 79-80f room here in florida. I think I need to re-apply less compound.
idle temps don't mean much, use HWMonitor run a decently intensive game for a while then look at the max temps and IIRC as a general rule the current AMD cpus run cooler than intel's current, but also can't take as much heat

Under full load with me encoding it hits 54c, 55c, 57c, 59c i think. [editline]27th June 2011[/editline]
AMD phenom x4 Looks like everything is withing normal temps, except tmpin2 but google shows that everyone has that
I asked what chipset you're running. The motherboard northbridge. Perhaps you simply need better ventilation in your case.
How much cooling paste do you guys use for your 212+? I've heard that you have too use pretty much because of the pipes.
Use as much as for your standard cooler. Good as long as it doesn't overflow the edges of the heat spreader.
How much cooling paste do you guys use for your 212+? I've heard that you have too use pretty much because of the pipes.
you want a paper thin layer like every other cooler read this article on how to apply the paste for this specific cooler, and especially look at the last two images: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=170&Itemid=38&limit=1&limitstart=5
Use as much as for your standard cooler. Good as long as it doesn't overflow the edges of the heat spreader.
Just the grain of rice on cpu way?
Just the grain of rice on cpu way?
Depends on the sort of paste you use. Some are more dense then others.
Probably your northbridge. my 680i normally went up to 80c while rendering, and given that nvidia's chipsets are notorious for eating children and burning small churches it's not surprising. My z68 however sits comfortably at 35c. What is your chipset?
my nortbridge goes up to 105°C in the summer its been like that for two summers, but now its time for the third, but I'm not worried
Depends on the sort of paste you use. Some are more dense then others.
Silver 5
Silver 5
Haven't used it so I don't know. But this video might help you.
For 212+ I'd say to put some on the heatsink before, then spread it around with your finger in a plastic bag, then try and scrape the excess off with a flat piece of plastic (business card) and then apply some to the CPU and continue as you normally would.
This normal? what's tmpin2? [editline]27th June 2011[/editline] google searches bring up that it's normal to be that high. Anyone else has that?
I think the sensors on my Asus P5E are fucked v:v:v (i have a collossal CPU cooler but my 2500 RPM fans are all set to 1000 RPM to save power)
People actually try to save power?
(i have a collossal CPU cooler but my 2500 RPM fans are all set to 1000 RPM to save power)
I really doubt that slowing your fans by 1500 RPM will make much difference in power consumption
I might have to apply some new paste. 'cus you know, 70c temps at max load are [del]totally[/del] not normal.
What do you mean by max load? If you are running Prime95, it doesn't stress the CPU much, try Intel Burn Test
I really doubt that slowing your fans by 1500 RPM will make much difference in power consumption
It's for power and... well, have you ever heard 4x 120x38mm, 2500 RPM (one 3000), 110 CFM fans? they are LOUD. Only way for me to not go nuts is to lower them so they aren't so noisy
Shit, I WANT MY COMPUTER LOUDER. I love noise like that. It also annoys my parents, which is the reason I want a louder mechanical keyboard.
Shit, I WANT MY COMPUTER LOUDER. I love noise like that. It also annoys my parents, which is the reason I want a louder mechanical keyboard.
You want a noisier computer to annoy your parents. wow.
You want a noisier computer to annoy your parents. wow.
They make me keep it in the living room. It's gonna be loud damnit.

Eventually the copper heatsink couldn't handle the heat and my board was cooked. Didn't help that the NB was located directly beneath where my video card sat.

You guys got nothing on my cable management. I took out the slower of the Disc readers so i could cram the longer and/or redundant wires into the space.
Dusted my rig out. Added my F3, got it rolling! Thing is fast! My friends. He insists the RAM fan helps.
You posted the same image twice
Damn. Thanks. Fixed.
My friends. He insists the RAM fan helps.
with what, keeping his RAM 1C lower or with making an awful noise
with what, keeping his RAM 1C lower or with making an awful noise
His computer is annoyingly loud, but doesn't care. He deals with it without a problem.
His computer is annoyingly loud, but doesn't care. He deals with it without a problem.
He doesn't need the fan in the bottom either [editline]28th June 2011[/editline] NZXT didn't design it so that you could put one there either
Well it's a want over a need in this case really
