Please Dr. Deeps, don't get a HAF case, I thought you had class man? The HAF cases are very good value for money but holy jesus are these overused and terrible looking. If you have the budget go for something like a 650D which just emits sophistication, if your budget is a little tighter you should look into a few of the shuttle Lian Li's (A05) or even a 400R, the A05 actually has fantastic airflow due to it's size, less surface area means air is pushed through it much easier than a mid/large tower would.
I'll think about it. Thanks. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
irrelevant hipster bullshit
It is slightly overused.
opinion
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233 THAT looks bad. The others look good.
Shut up. You don't even understand what a hipster is.
gosh i was joking, because he said 'overused' and 'emits sophistication'

That's still opinion, though.

I said they're a great line of cases and especially good value for money there's no denying that. And yes it may be a bit hipster of me to not want an overused case, but I feel that a computer case is a personal opinion/thing and I wouldn't want to own the same case as everyone else with slightly different innards. If you like the look of the HAF line definitely grab one, you won't be disappointed, but don't just get one because everyone is recommending it, they're fantastic on a budget but when you have leverage on your budget you should definitely go with one you love the look of so that you can use it in future builds. Personally I absolutely love the 650D/Fractal R3 and pretty much Corsair in general so I can be biased and recommend them a little too much I admit.
I wish corsair had accessories like lianli, Matte black optical drives kinda ruin my 650d.
I wish corsair had accessories like lianli, Matte black optical drives kinda ruin my 650d.
Stealth the drive it's easy.
Stealth the drive it's easy.
How? I could do with doing that.
I know a friend of mine with an 800D uses brushed aluminum looking stickers with rectangle holes for the drive tray and button, you can hardly notice an optical drive there unless you look very close to see the gaps. I wouldn't even bother with optical drives anyway, the only time I've ever used it is to install the operating system and even though I frequently buy hard copies of games I just torrent them and use my CD key, saves the hassle of putting my IDE drive back in.
How? I could do with doing that.
I did it on my 700D, it's really easy. I took the spare drive bay cover, cut the clips of the sides so it was just the front face part. Then I used some 3M industrial strength double-sided "tape" to attach it to the disk tray part, and I stuck a piece of plastic next to where the button is on the CD drive, so I would just push the corner of the bay cover and hey presto a CD drive would pop out: It kinda looks a little wonky when retracted on these images but It was just the alignment which I re-did afterwards and you couldn't tell it was there.
There are some sexy computers

What happened to that, it was awesome.
Oh man, you were the guy who made Black/Blue weren't you? What happened to that, it was awesome.
Yes he is, and he sold most of it on eBay.
Oh man, you were the guy who made Black/Blue weren't you? What happened to that, it was awesome.
Sold most of it to fund the next project.
My new cheapy case arrived to replace the pastel blue and cream sminge that my Duron was in. Luckily I had a black Floppy drive laying around in my parts box, but no black CD drive (I will grab one from the bootsale on sunday, there are always optical drives sitting around there)
Fuck yeah Durons.

Oh man, I had the original Centurion 5. Brings back memories of my old Sempron machine. I had 1GB of ram in my rig (at the time, that was huge). I thought my PC was so good back then. Rockin' a GeForce 6600LE. [editline]13th August 2011[/editline] Found a couple pics of my rig from 2008: At the time, it was actually a really high end rig. Specs (as far as I remember): Athlon X2 6000+ (3.0Ghz) - Paid about $175 2GB DDR2 800 - Paid about $80 (2GB was a lot then - I still use these) Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe - $130 MSI 8800GTS 512 OC - $275 (still have it, still works!) 650W SilverStone PSU - $125 (great psu, horrendously loud though) 160 & 80GB SATA Drives (Maxtor and Seagate respectively) [editline]13th August 2011[/editline] Found some even older ones. These are from a few months after I originally built it. Taken in 2006 I believe. Can it run Doom 3?

Cable management isn't the best. The cables don't want to bend and i don't really want to stress them out. OCZ did such a bad job with the heat shrinks. Also the cable coming out of my bottom card is a 4 pin molex to 6 pin pci-e because i couldn't find my 4th pci-e wire.
What Graphics cards do you have?
Tops an ASUS Radeon HD 6970, bottoms a Sapphire Radeon HD 6950
Hmm why not get 2x 6970? Also bad watercooling :P
Hmm why not get 2x 6970? Also bad watercooling :P
I had the 6950 from before, It's unlocked which is hard to get these days, plus i got the 6970 cheap. I like the h60 cause it looks cleaner then a traditional air cooler.
its a beast :v: attempting to cable manage it was aweful yes, that is indeed silver tape
Specs on that beast ?
GA-MA74GTM-S2, athlon 250, gigabyte 5670 1GB, running 2GB DDR3 single channel RAM at 1066MHz running XP SP2 :v: works quite fine despite being pretty much junk
What case manufacturer thought it would be a good idea to have that many optical drive slots? I mean jesus I have four on my case and I feel that's enough, I don't even use one of them, you should get two on a case as standard from 2011 onwards. Although I do understand if it's an old case.
I'd rather have none to save space and weight on the case and get an external e-sata/USB 3 dvd drive. [editline]15th August 2011[/editline] Just had a look and turns out there's extremely few e-sata external drives and no usb 3 drives. What the hell?
