Is it the right memory? sounds stupid but its happened to my Dad before when he was upgrading his mac pro. Luckily he still had warranty on it.
Yeah I'm certain the memory is compatible
I also tried a million troubleshooting things but none worked, so it's most likely a motherboard defect
Can't you unlock that X3?
4th is unstable. But I'm getting an X4 tomorrow, so, eh.
I attempted my first PC build today and it was a total failure
I think either the motherboard or the RAM is faulty, because the motherboard correctly complains when there's no RAM, but when there is RAM it doesn't complain about bad RAM but it doesn't boot up to the boot test screen
I've written an angry email to amazon asking for RAM replacement and have contacted Scan's technical support for the motherboard.
My mum was dubious about the whole 'build a pc yourself' thing so she wasn't happy at all and mocked me for not listening to her :(
You probably just got incompatible RAM, check all the requirements and limitations. I did the same sort of thing earlier; I bought a new CPU, accidentally got the wrong socket type. Bought a new motherboard with the right socket, had to buy shiny new DDR3 RAM to go with it. Then I had to get an ATX case because my case was a shitty Dell one and the hard drive cages were in the way. And then I had to get a new optical drive, because my old one was IDE, and the mobo only had SATA. And for some reason, the PSU was too big, had to get another one. And as the shit topping on the poo cake, since I was originally just planning to change my CPU, I forgot to use sysprep and had to reinstall Windows.
Grainy cellphone pictures ahoy!

The pictures don't show it well, but this case is huge. ~8.6" wide. ~23.3" tall. ~24.2" deep/long.

I ran out of money after the 6970 and case :v:
Why would you spray paint such a sexy case...
After work today i'm gonna pick up my build that i ordered some time ago, so expect pics tomorrow!

Classic.
My parents are like " NO PLEASE OH GOD NO DON'T DO IT YOURSELF YOU GONNA BREAK SOMETHING OR RAGE FUCKING QUIT ".
Yeah i'm an impatient fucking moron, but hopefully it gonna be ooookay.
Oh, they're just warning me, not giving me orders or prevent me to buy some hardware. I can do whatever i want, it's my fucking money after all.
But still, i never builded a custom rig. And all these cables men, they're scaring the shit out of me.
Yeah on the paper it sounds stupid but when you got like 194384598 cables from the PSU in your face, damn, your brain starts to spin.

24-pin motherboard power connector (4 if you have a pentium 4 motherboard)
possibly a few SATA power connectors
and a few 4 pin MOLEX cables.
It really isn't as bad as it looks, don't worry.
Don't forget the extra-stuff like fans, SLI cards etc.
Dunno if it add much but still.
Fans are easy. Those either plug into the motherboard fan controllers, your fan controller card (Which is plugged into the PSU through... Molex, I think?), or a standard Molex cable through a Molex-to-fan adapter.
SLI cards are also fairly simple. Just connect the standard power to both.
This are the parts i'm gonna build together tomorrow:

Be aware though, the pic did not turn out as good as i thought!

Looks very similar to my build, how much did that cost you in all?
Looks very similar to my build, how much did that cost you in all?
9900 SEK = 1500$
Why would you spray paint such a sexy case...
Because I like personalizing my stuff. Yeah, it's a damn gorgeous case by itself, but I'm not going to let that stop me from adding my own touch to it.
I can't wait to rebuild for bf3, as long as my finances come through, I will be splurging. Everything new except HDD, and GPU.
Because I like personalizing my stuff. Yeah, it's a damn gorgeous case by itself, but I'm not going to let that stop me from adding my own touch to it.
You personalize stuff with even more media and advertizing? Doesn't seem very personal.
How is it any different from hanging up posters of stuff on your bedroom wall or wearing band tees or even putting stickers that come with after market car parts on your back window? How is it advertising? I like Lady Gaga, so I made a stencil and spray painted it on. Seems pretty personal to me.
personally, I'd prefer a large fan to a window
I'd have either nothing there or a window. A window looks a bit cleaner than a fan in my opinion :v:
Of course it's good for the cooling, but if you're just going for the best looks, I'd probably go with a completely blank side panel.
I like Lady Gaga
You sick fuck.
Still rebuilding after http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1099703?highlight=. Case and PSU got fucked to shit.
Leet as fuck, so much airflow.

It pretty much did die :(
Something I've thought was interesting lately... Is using a window air conditioner to cool a PC. Instead of the standard liquid cooling system, just hook the pipes up to the window air conditioner and fill it with Freon.
Is that plausible at all, or just another construct of my sick imagination?

Could work. If that doesn't, air cool it and channel the air into the intake on the case

x6 isn't going to improve your gaming experience over the x4... like.. at all.
