That's not true unless you took the fan out and reversed it.
-snip- I'm just stupid
nope, it's definately blowing it into the case
No you're feeling blowback. It's blowing out, but the fan's basically pointed towards a wall so some of the air is reflected.
No you're feeling blowback. It's blowing out, but the fan's basically pointed towards a wall so some of the air is reflected.
Ideally you want as much coming in as what's going out. (Work this in CFM). - The front fans want to be intake, so do the bottom ones (if you have any). Oh and the side one(s) unless you've checked your graphics card temps. :p - The top/back will want to be outtake, as the natural airflow goes to the top (warm air does). So therefore your fans are working easier AND you should theoretically get better temperatures. Most cases are right by default. Unless you're using different fans/water cooling. I'm no expert here, but top RADs are the best, as it pulls moderate air into the RAD and pull the warm/hot air straight out the top away from the components and the RAD! The back would have some deflection of the wall. This would also make cable management easier for most cases, it'd also look neater and allow for an LED fan to be placed in the back, where visible. I've never used a waterloop myself, but it sounds silly to have a RAD on intake. Unless it's your only option :p

The whole point of having the radiator at the top is to have the radiator intake cool air while keeping the airflow in-tact, it's even better if you mount a fan on the optical bays since they're seldom used in modern builds, that way you get the hot air whizzing out the back minimizing heat spread to other components, like this: Red being exhaust blue being intake, and if you have a single radiator (like you Goz3rr) a better way is to have two exhausts if you have the optical bay intake, like so: I've tried both of these and a normal rear exhaust radiator with my H60 and CM690II and the 2nd one is easily the best, cutting temperatures by 2-5c more than the others while keeping GPU temperatures down aswell due to the diagonal airflow, you can even add a 2nd fan mounted inside the optical bay at the front of the case, get a wind tunnel going blasting air through the case out the back. Airflow is serious business yo.
But you are forcing hot air down. You are not keeping the airflow intact [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] Please draw some arrows to show which way airflow is going in your schematic.
CM 690 II Advanced Master Case.

You seem to think that heat rises far quicker than it does though, I doubt it has much of an effect on anything.
odd setup, but it looks like it might just work well. You seem to think that heat rises far quicker than it does though, I doubt it has much of an effect on anything.
Atleast im not trying to push hot air down which imho you should never want.
But you are forcing hot air down. You are not keeping the airflow intact
In neither of them the hot air is going down, it's either going out of the back or upwards. Your way will work, pretty much any way will work except having all intake, but keeping one side intake and one side exhaust keeps airflow constant, your way could cause build-up in places where the exhaust fans just aren't strong enough. My setup. I know this is bad having only one intake, but believe me I have tried other setups and I get bad temps on my GPU. I was going to switch around the back fan but I never got around to it. I dont have any problems temp wise. [editline]15th October 2011[/editline] Oh and if your worried about the two fans at the top, It is a bother for me to remove the top one and it has a higher CFM than the CPU fan anyway so it isn't really getting in the way.
What do you mean flipped because of AMD / mobo?
The way the 212+ is mounted onto the mobo. AM3+ only goes one way with the 212+. Its horizontal not vertical like in the picture. [editline]15th October 2011[/editline] Unless I missed something but it doesn't bother me, my temps are great.
The way the 212+ is mounted onto the mobo. AM3+ only goes one way with the 212+. Its horizontal not vertical like in the picture.
no, you can do it either way, I'm 95.51% sure
It does go in either way. AM3 and AM3+ are exactly the same when it comes to installing cpu coolers.
-Snip- Ok then, either way it is.
What do you mean flipped because of AMD / mobo?
Pretty sure it does, because the AMD socket is a rectangle shape. Unless the retention bracket can fit if you twist it the other way? (If you know what i mean). For Intels its Square from what i've seen. Would it be worth resitting my Hyper 212+ sideways rather than upwards. I'm using a HAF 932 with all the stock fans except for a bottom intake.
CM 690 II Advanced Master Case.
**Coolermaster Case. :p

now do drawings for the 600t too cause i putted my fans in diagonal and shit i'm dumb when things touch to airflow
Tried adding my tv as a second monitor using a dvi to vga splitter. CCC wont detect it for some reason. :( [editline]15th October 2011[/editline] Switching ports fixed it. Ill get a picture soon.
my first PC is now BUILT!!! IT LIVES only problems is that the front and rear fans arn't running. i'm gonna need some help for that one.
Specs?
AMD phenom II X4 3.40 ghz AMD Radeon HD 6800 (not sure of the specifics) 8 gb of kingston hyperx ram 1tb hard drive
you're not sure which graphics card you bought?!
-awesome case / hardware-
I might switch to that case! Was it good to build in? Oh and how many fans can you put in it?
Got a new 200mm fan, wondering where I should put it. Since everyone was talking about airflow thought it would be a better idea to post it here, rather than a new thread Apologies for the crappy paint drawings. Putting it next to another 200mm on the top, drawing air out Putting the fan on the side panel, drawing air in Putting the fan on the side panel, but drawing air out instead. I've heard some bad things about putting fans on the side as it disrupts the airflow from the front to the back, I put a 120mm on the bottom of my CM 690 II Advanced instead.
you're not sure which graphics card you bought?!
i was just looking at what the computer was telling me! it says AMD Radeon HD 6800 series in the device management so thats what i put. i can't remember the last two digits
