If hes planning on unlocking and overclocking them buying anything LESS than 1000w would of been stupid.
Check out how much computers actually pull before spewing that stuff. I could run my 2600k, Dual 580, 5 harddrive, on a 700watt PSU.
Would I do it? No, because I plan on using it in my next overpowered computer. 1000Watts could power a whole lot more in addition to that dual 6950 system.

That is incredibly pretty.
Nice job.
Does anyone have one of the new X79 chipset motherboards with 8 RAM slots? Probably not gonna worth the buy anyway, since a single board starts from 200 bucks in price.
Think I'm gonna get one perhaps... just to say "I can now have 64gb of RAM (and I don't even use more than 3)"
I have a challenger...

It's worth it if you have use for it, the performance it gives is insane if you actually need it. You're dumb if you buy it only to play games.
Look what I just built. Pictures to follow.

200 bucks is nothing for a board.
The X79 Asus one costs 650 here.

$200 in America is a lot, did it really have to be pointed out

I'm sure it's because they don't want to see people waste an insane amount of money on getting a computer that's most likely completely overkill for their needs. What are you planning to do with this kind of computer that requires this much power?

Out of curiosity what computer build did you go for? I noticed you were using single channel RAM alongside an SSD as your only storage device.

Not really, I have plans for the future :v:
What kind of plans? I'm interested.
Myself don't need that platform but will absolutely buy one of those Ivy Bridge to go into my Asus Maximus Extreme IV while my Sandy Bridge goes into Gigabyte UD7.

An i5 will be enough lol.
You can do let's plays and tutorials on a damn Athlon X2. Just not using Fraps. The MSI Afterburner recorder is awesome.
I need to take pictures of my PC.. I have a prebuilt, so I haven't done any cable management etc.
New Christmas wish - A Hyper 212 Evo so I could get my CPU temp lower (45C idle is not good :C)
Also I have the companys logo in front of my case. I should remove it and change it. Or just keep it blue :v:

Depends how professional it is but I would still buy Sandy Bridge for that. My 2600K have no problems rendering hour long videos.

I still don't think you're gonna need what x79 offers. Sounds stupid to buy x79 and let your money just sit there because you can't utilize what that platform offers.
I prefer the best of the best :v:
No you don't. Put your money elsewhere to something which will actually benefit you (like a good GPU and a secondary HDD for storage) or save your cash.

The stuff not mentioned:
NZXT Tempest EVO case
Zalman CNPS12X cooler
RAM was Vengeance LP.

This explains a lot as to why you went with a single channel RAM stick. Also why NZXT?

Like the look of the case, reviews put the case pretty high quality.
You might have read my arguments with Reap, him claiming that every NZXT case is shit, which isn't a good basis for an argument.
The only case I can compare it to is the HAF 932 I used for my previous build, and this outstrips it in every way - looks, ease of building, cooling and build quality.#
Also it's dual-channel RAM by the way.

NZXT will probably always be generally disliked because many of their cases appear to be designed with appearance in mind more than functionality or quality. Ultimately they're probably about the same as everything else though. Can't say much cause I've never used one.

look at speccy, it's installed in single channel, dual channel has nothing to do with the RAM and everything to do with how many modules there are and how they are installed
and if you think an old NZXT is on a par with even something as middle of the road as a HAF then you have pretty terrible standards, you might as well have gone with some cheapo casecom or something
or you're just in denial because you're unable to admit faults in your judgement once again

The overall construction is sturdier than the HAF 932.
It has ~as good cooling yet is quieter (cooler too, though) than the 932.
It has better cable management.
How is it worse?
Also it's because I have the RAM installed in 1/3 instead of 1/2 I believe.

45c idle isnt bad I get 40c idle and about 60c under max load, Once you start getting past 70c is when you start having problems.
