Low power mini ITX computer as a small web server that operates even when your main rig is off, yet is safely housed within the unified case of doom? I suppose if you are the kind of person that multi-boxes for development purposes it's quite a good way to consolidate your crap. Personally I'll stick to VMs. I nearly bought a Mozart TX. I believe the Mozart can only have an ITX board for the secondary computer, I could be wrong though.
Because I have a use for those. I have no idea why I would use a secondary computer inside of my other computer.
Render farm! :eng101:
Why would I want another computer inside? [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] 10 bucks says he is in management in construction and has a house in north western New York and has a family and this is his only hobby left.
11 bucks you're stalking this guy :v:
Render farm! :eng101:
Render farms don't do video encoding, which is all I care about. Besides, I'll eventually have a 2011 IvyBridge E, which may be 6 or 8 cores at like 4.5ghz.
Just use x264farm.
I thought that got abandoned years ago. Also don't you dare make me start spending my nights browsing ancient forums on getting it to work. I already encode 1080p at lovely quality and good compression at 60% real time. A 2011 Ivy E with 8 cores and 16 threads would do it over real time.

I can do 1080p x264 in real time, I just need to change how brutal the compression is. I use medium at CRF 22.5 and it basically does almost lossless looking stuff at about 19-21fps for most games. Skyrim and BF3 look extremely complex visually so they run slower. But limbo encoded at like 45fps and minecraft usually goes around 25-30fps.

Good thing all the fans keep his house cool. :)

It's awesome.
I fear I've lost my 1155 backplate for mine so I could be stuck with the stock 2500k cooler for a while
I fear I've lost my 1155 backplate for mine so I could be stuck with the stock 2500k cooler for a while
There isn't a special 1155 backplate for the 212+. It works with that plate that comes with it.
Just got one of those suckers too. It's awesome.
So do I, keeps my CPU cool enough to overclock over 4.5 if I wanted.
There isn't a special 1155 backplate for the 212+. It works with that plate that comes with it.
oh, really? that'll explain why I can't find it - I thought there was a separate one to the one that I use on my 755 board currently
I fear I've lost my 1155 backplate for mine so I could be stuck with the stock 2500k cooler for a while
I just installed one on a clients computer and it only has one backplate with mounting holes for (775, 1366, 1156/1155) and an AMD kit, So unless you are using AMD right now you should not have a problem. [editline]January 3rd 2012[/editline] Unless you just lost the whole backplate itself
So do I, keeps my CPU cool enough to overclock over 4.5 if I wanted.
I've only managed to overclock mine from 3.2Ghz to 3.7Ghz... I didn't really try too hard though either, and I'm a total noob at overclocking. I need to read up I suppose. I actually just got this because my stock fan was loud as shit under load.
I was planning on just setting the voltage to 1.375 and whatever the multiplier/fsb has to be to get 4.5 and hoping for the best
oh, really? that'll explain why I can't find it - I thought there was a separate one to the one that I use on my 755 board currently
Nah, the plate that comes with it is 775, 1366, and 1156/1155 compatible like Nsybouts said.
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055t @ 3.5ghz (stock voltages) RAM: 4gb DDR3 1333mhz MOBO: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 GPU: HD 6950 in crossfire HDD: 2x Spinpoint F3's 1TB in Raid 0 (backups though a network drive) The case is a antec 900, and its a the worst possible case when it comes to cable managment. There's only 2 usable holes but there right next to each, and there isn't enough room behind the tray to fit any cables. So I did my best and put most of the cables on the DVD drive bays.
Not really pics but just a short video.
Dem shaky hands.
Dem shaky hands.
Shoot a video by hand with no IS on a DSLR without shaking please. Plus, my pc was in same exact place as it is now, didn't feel like moving it onto a table or a stand where it's much easier for me to film.

You will be able to make more fluid motions when the object (in this case the camera) is heavier. Also, if you're going to put that much effort into editing, why not put the same amount of effort into the filming?

I haven't filmed nor took pictures in quite the longest time before I made that video, but I assure you, when it all comes down to serious business, I won't be shaky.
Would it improve airflow at all if i took my rear 120mm fan and mounted it on the hyper 212? or would that just make it weird
Would it improve airflow at all if i took my rear 120mm fan and mounted it on the hyper 212? or would that just make it weird
It should perform well enough with the stock fan already on it. Just make sure that the orientation of the fans are the same.

You'd be better off with a silver or gold classed one, but it's looking nice
Why did you get a bronze classed PSU for that hardware? You'd be better off with a silver or gold classed one, but it's looking nice
Most Bronze level PSU's will work at Silver or (usually) Gold when they're only loaded to 50%. Since almost nobody uses nearly 100% of these massive power supplies, gold is kind of unnecessary to be quite honest.
