Most Bronze level PSU's will work at Silver or (usually) Gold when they're only loaded to 50%. Since almost nobody uses nearly 100% of these massive power supplies, gold is kind of unnecessary to be quite honest.
I was thinking of quality, but I guess you are true :v:
Why did you get a bronze classed PSU for that hardware? You'd be better off with a silver or gold classed one, but it's looking nice
I'm not sure what you mean... The corsair AX1200 is a 80plus gold rated PSU..
Insert not sure if trolling or just stupid mark here. The corsair AX1200 is a 80plus gold rated PSU..
Oh, shit thought it said TX :v: Sorry!
Oh, shit thought it said TX :v: Sorry!
Jesus christ, is your new years resolution to use :v: in every signle post?

Thats a Socket 2011 if i recall right if you see the ram on the left he has 4 of em which is quad channel i think.
Thats a Socket 2011 if i recall right if you see the ram on the left he has 4 of em which is quad channel i think.
2011 is 4 on each side, or 2 on each side. As Shadez pointed out he has Triple channel on the right, specific to 1366 I believe.
He has a 980X according to his YouTube account so that means he has a 1366 cpu.
He has a 980X according to his YouTube account so that means he has a 1366 cpu.
Read the youtube comments... Bought this system in late 2010 fyi, decided to make a long overdue vid about my 1366 system in prep for 2012 and LGA2011
What YT comments? (Youtube comment improver removes comments..)

You know, i somehow doubt that people posting their over the top builds over and over and how they 'need' them, actually have said funds to purchase them
Not mine, but I find this so cool I just have to show it. Some random Swede has built a relay-based computer from scratch.
I've only managed to overclock mine from 3.2Ghz to 3.7Ghz... I didn't really try too hard though either, and I'm a total noob at overclocking. I need to read up I suppose. I actually just got this because my stock fan was loud as shit under load.
I can get 4.2, but I need another fan on the front because I have no intake fans. Even then under greatest load (BF3 typically) it stays under 65. Which isn't low but... whatever.
You know, i somehow doubt that people posting their over the top builds over and over and how they 'need' them, actually have said funds to purchase them
I'll be honest, I don't have said funds just yet, hopefully if my contract / deal falls through I'll have said funds. I like to plan ahead, but yes, I can agree with you if I should just wait prior to "blabbing" about my over the top build.
[t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5003648/IMAG0131.jpg[/t] already put the processor in the socket ready for the memory that I'll be picking up from the post office tomorrow (the post man decided it would be a good idea to not bother attempting to deliver the parcel even though he could see me through the front window and there were two cars on the drive)
Why didn't you wait for Ivy bridge?
Why didn't you wait for Ivy bridge?
Some people might not have the money to buy the newest and best.
The Ivy Bridge i5 is said to be as expensive like the sandybridge i5.
I didn't want to wait, that's why. The IB i5 will be more expensive anyway because Intel have tagged on that they can charge more because of their market dominance.
I didn't want to wait, that's why. The IB i5 will be more expensive anyway because Intel have tagged on that they can charge more because of their market dominance.
Why would it be more expensive?
Why would it be more expensive?
I don't know if it will or not, it's just what I would assume and what I've heard from others. I'm still happy with my purchase anyways, the Ivy Bridge version won't have a huge performance increase over the current model.
Why didn't you wait for Ivy bridge?
waiting for new technology is dumb because you end up waiting out the release of something and then oh this great new thing is coming out in 4 months
Im planing on waiting because i want to buy the newest stuff when i go from my C2D to the next gen of intel cpu's, i can wait 4 months because i'm eager to wait to get the most for my money. I would agree though if it was like a quarter of a year until it would come out like nvidia's Kepler GPU.
Ivy bridge will be more expensive than Sandy unless they've confirmed it isn't, chances are they'll keep or lower very slightly the price of Sandy and make Ivy a bit more expensive than Sandy is now.
Your point is? Im planing on waiting because i want to buy the newest stuff when i go from my C2D to the next gen of intel cpu's, i can wait 4 months because i'm eager to wait to get the most for my money. I would agree though if it was like a quarter of a year until it would come out like nvidia's Kepler GPU.
my point is exactly what I wrote in my post waiting is dumb, buy what you can afford now and don't wait months for something that's marginally better, but then again you're coming from a C2D so it's situational usually in my case I'm coming from the mid-high end of a few generations back (C2Q in this instance) so I don't see a point in waiting, besides, I'm sure it'll be more expensive than it's worth on release as well as in relation to SB
my point is exactly what I wrote in my post waiting is dumb, buy what you can afford now and don't wait months for something that's marginally better, but then again you're coming from a C2D so it's situational usually in my case I'm coming from the mid-high end of a few generations back (C2Q in this instance) so I don't see a point in waiting, besides, I'm sure it'll be more expensive than it's worth on release as well as in relation to SB
Well C2Q is a really powerfull cpu anyways imo and if you overclocked it its even better.
Well C2Q is a really powerfull cpu anyways imo and if you overclocked it its even better.
compared to SB, no it isn't, I'm moving up from a C2D and like Odellus said you're waiting 4 months for something marginally better that'll be at a slightly higher price
Well C2Q is a really powerfull cpu anyways imo and if you overclocked it its even better.
it really isn't, and I'm being seriously bottlenecked by it I drop to around 90 FPS in L4D at 1080p with everything on minimum settings (for visibility reasons) which is unacceptable considering I have a 120 Hz monitor if I try to max the game with this setup it dips into the 50s which is absolutely awful when you're used to such high framerates, the Q9400 I have is even overclocked to 3.6 GHz getting 25-30 FPS average with nearly everything set to fairly low in GTA IV is completely retarded for how expensive everything I have is, bad thing is I don't get the final piece of my Christmas gift (the 2500k) for probably a week or even longer from now
