You can't replace stuff like motherboards in prebuilt cases, another problem is if you're using the stock 300 watt psu, it wouldn't work out that well. I don't even know what you're trying to accomplish. At first it was buying a new PC, and you completely switched the topic to upgrading your current one. Also, AM2/AM2+ is outdated tech, Biostar is a horrible company, and the RAM is incompatible. Seriously research these things before you talk
Dude. I have little to no knowledge about making or upgrading, THAT IS THE WHOLE FUCKING REASON I AM ASKING YOU. If someone could kindly give me a list for about $200 that is compatible with my computer...or....ugh....
I don't think you know what you're doing. You can't replace stuff like motherboards in prebuilt cases,
Yeah you can, if you can take it out, you can put another one in.
I want to upgrade for $185 BTW, is my graphics card any good? Like 40+ fps (without considering the RAM) in Half Life 2/Team Fortress 2 on High is a good graphics card to me.
No your graphics card isn't any good I was surprised a Radeon 9200 could even set the sliders to "high" without a BSOD.. I think you should fully upgrade or do nothing at all.
Fully upgrade as in? Graphics Card + Motherboard + RAM + Processor?
+Power supply. I'm not against buying pre-built computers though. If you can spare the money and it's a good computer, then go ahead, but make sure it has good components for what you need (i.e. gaming) before you buy.
Would you recommend a list? Please. I'm really stupid when it comes to this. Newegg preferably. "Around" $200
Yeah you can, if you can take it out, you can put another one in.
Not if it uses a bunch of proprietary connectors (I'm looking at you Dell/Compaq)
Would you recommend a list? Please. I'm really stupid when it comes to this. Newegg preferably. "Around" $200
First let us know what kind of case you have, and your power supply (to see if it can be reused.) If this is something you got from a company like Dell or HP, let us know the model. Chances are, though, that you will need a new case and power supply. That alone is going to cost about $130.
Your not gonna get a decent computer for $200 so use the money you got from selling your laptop and another $100-$200.
No you can't upgrade it. The case connectors don't match prebuilts.
op it looks fine, honestly you probably are okay with that, yes building it your own may be fun and you can wave a dick around on an internet forum but do what you want
Building it yourself is easy, just in case you're nervous OP. People think only nerds can do it, but anyone who's ever worked on a car, worked with wood/metal, or put together unassembled furniture already has the physical and mental capabilities of putting together a PC.
Ok, it looks like your motherboard has an AGP slot, which does give you some room to upgrade assuming your power supply is up for it. However, your CPU is quite weak, and may simply bottleneck anything much faster, and I doubt you'll find a decent upgrade anywhere. Anyways, here's an option for upgrading your graphics: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131173 It'll certainly blow your 9200 out of the water in performance, and the one review there says it runs fine on a 300W PSU. I'm just not sure if your CPU will allow for much performance improvement, but you should still finally be able to run modern games much better.
fuck why did i bump this fuck -snip-

An extra .6 ghz and some extra cache.
tbh I'd just completely start from scratch
Start again. Build from scratch, it's like a giant lego set.
It's okay for being a prebuilt best deal I've seen on a prebuilt in a wile.
Yeah lego costs just as much as a pc these days.

Anyway, are any of these compatible with my computer: http://www.pacificgeek.com/product.asp?id=854943 Some nVIDIA Geforce4. http://www.pacificgeek.com/product.asp?ID=858399&C=221&S=1092 :sigh: Another nVIDIA, Geforce2 though, don't know if that makes a HUGE difference but it's only $11. http://www.pacificgeek.com/product.asp?ID=53613&C=221&S=1092 For Fucks Sake. Could someone please recommend me a non-nVIDIA graphics card. I'm fine if it works but this is ridiculous.
i3? gt 220? what [editline]03:53PM[/editline]
[IMG_thumb]http://i48.tinypic.com/2hwiphd.png[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]http://i46.tinypic.com/296a09.png[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]http://i49.tinypic.com/15etsk.png[/IMG_thumb] 60 fps on each solid. [editline]05:45PM[/editline] http://www.livestream.com/supergamer/folder Fallout 3 and L4D2 In there also.
60fps on fallout 3 isn't really that impressive anymore 60 fps in any source engine game has never been impressive

how about you just hold onto your money and save?
look save up dont get a geforce 4 as it is worse than your current card if you need to blow the cash now then try aim for like a HD4350, asus motherboard, 2 gig DDR2 kit and maybe you could keep the CPU i still got my old P4 with a radeon x1650 pro, that i use as a second PC anyways pull the side off the case and take a picture of the insides so we can get some info
"yep, it's a computer"
this is probably all you are really going to get anyway http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.320170 mobo and GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148163 RAM cpu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103772 CPU heatsink http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185125 even that is pushing it over budget a little and you would still need a case, PSU, HDD/'s, DVD drive. [editline]12:47AM[/editline] broke my automerge :argh:
I will in the mornin'
