• Setting mouse button to "Mouse 4" for gaming?

I've had this mouse for a while now, and it works great. It has a fourth button on the side, but when I use the key editor that comes with the drivers, I can only make it do things such as make a magnifier or change the mouse sensitivity. How do I make it a simple "mouse 4" for gaming binds?
I've got a similar, old-school Microsoft Inteli that works the same way. I've never used drivers or another program to bind the keys for gaming. Use the game to control the bind; for example, my left side mouse 4 is the melee function in Bad Company 2. The game should register each button that's available for binding, and will recognize your side buttons as mouse 4 and 5.
The game doesn't see it as a button though.
Are you using Windows Vista or 7? Run the key editor as an administrator. Have you tried binding in game prior to messing with the drivers, or has the game always failed to recognize those buttons?
Windows Vista. It installed the "Microsoft Mouse" drivers when I plugged it in the first time and automatically set it to magnifier, without my permission. In game, if I make it "Mouse 4" or otherwise it will not register when I press the key. In the driver editor, as admin or not, there is no option for it, and there is no "clear" option or anything, and the default is magnifier. Also, I can make it a keystroke, but Mouse 4 is not an option for it.
