Yeah that's about right. I wouldn't get anything less than a 5850 to replace a 9800GT, personally. [editline]08:47PM[/editline] If I am not mistaken, the BP 550 has 3 +12V rails: http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product1.php?id=NzA= Which when combined equal 69 Amps? What do you think J-Dude?
Multiple rails are horrible.
How so?
Get the 5770. It's right next to the 4870 in performance (beating it in half of the cases) and would be a considerable improvement over your 9800gt (granted you get the new cpu and power supply). http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-5770-review-test/14
How so?
Well, they're not exactly horrible, but in every case with a multiple 12V rail PSU, you're only getting one rail's worth of amps to your graphics card, because only certain connectors are linked with certain rails. [editline]04:29PM[/editline] http://www.playtool.com/pages/psumultirail/multirails.html [editline]04:33PM[/editline] Just read the bit at the end, it explains my point.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276567&Sku=ULT-LSP750 I recommend that PSU ^, it runs my Phenom II X4 955 5870 build.
Doesn't explain how current 550 watt psu's with only 2 12volt rails @ 18A can power a 5870 and modest system... The articles from 2006 it's a bit dated don't ya think?

Just read it. "Is it true that some PSU's that claim to be multiple +12V rails don't have the +12V rail split at all? Yes, this is true..." As long as you get something high quality it doesn't matter. http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3990

[editline]05:17PM[/editline] This guy doesn't know what he's talking about...
that card isn't going to be much of an upgrade you'll need to go higher if you want a really noticeable difference what resolution are you playing at
[citation needed] Edit: Why the dumb? I'm just wondering where he picked up that information? I guess it would be a dumb question to ask if it was the sort of thing that normal people know from birth. I'm just wondering since I've seen benchmarks suggesting otherwise.
Okay let me get this striaght My 9800 is capable of more, but my cpu is restricting it? So I should go buy a new Power supply. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016 And a new processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103704 And I will see performance increase in just that? And if I DO want a video card. Get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102864&cm_re=Radeon_hd_5770-_-14-102-864-_-Product
No, get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150447&cm_re=5770-_-14-150-447-_-Product and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371030 [editline]06:47PM[/editline] And spend the extra $20 you save on this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103702

Although personally I would save up for a 5850, since the 5770 isn't a huge leap from a 9800GT. Remember to read up on flashing your motherboard's BIOS, which I think you will need to do to use the Propus CPU.

Is that processor really that much further ahead than my motherboard already supports in its current bios?
Your motherboard does not support some of the more recent processors without an update to its BIOS. Restart your computer. Note the BIOS Revision as the computer is turning on. What is it? There is more than one revision of the Athlon II 635, each with its own minimum BIOS revision: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpu_support_right_master_mkt.aspx?slanguage=en-us&name=M3N78%20PRO
