I almost died trying to imagine seeing this while not wearing those glasses.. Bunch of guys running around with air weapons yelling FAGGOT at each other. oh god :v::v::v:
Ah thanks, but out of curiosity, what does Windows do for this problem?
Force everyone to compile x86, x64 and ARM when it comes out.
Ah thanks, but out of curiosity, what does Windows do for this problem?
Iirc C# works the same as java.
Waiting for scouter/futuristic cyberpunk version Also how do you control it other than voice? [editline]24th April 2012[/editline] Or for the battlefield virtual reality thing will I just have to yell BANG BANG BANG while wearing some sort of force feedback/motion control gloves?
It could track your eye movement for control.
That would be terrible, the glove thing is the only thing I can think of that would work.
Iirc C# works the same as java.
Except is doesn't fucking crawl.
I'd better be able to use my phone as a keyboard for these I don't want something that's completely voice activated
IIRC you use the controls through head tilting, I havn't heard anything about eye tracking yet. Also if it comes out soon enough I'll use this to lifecast, everyone can watch me jack off 5 times a day.

THOSE GLASSES ARE CONSUMING A CHILD!!!!!!!
THOSE GLASSES ARE CONSUMING A CHILD!!!!!!!
HE IS NOT SMILING, HE IS SCREAMING FOR HIS LIFE!!!
Except is doesn't fucking crawl.
so why didn't Android do this then?
so why didn't Android do this then?
They're not using the official Java Virtual Machine. They made their own register-based virtual machine, instead of using Oracles stack-based.

I wonder if it has video-recording capabilities. That'd be just amazing for FPS videos. What's even more amazing is that this is -actually happening-. It's not just a concept, it's actually a practice. I saw an interview a while back with the project leader for this wearing the glasses, and he showed how they worked for a few seconds by taking a photo of the interviewer (?) and uploading it to his G+ circles just by doing a nodding headmovement. I am loving this era of technology.
Force everyone to compile x86, x64 and ARM when it comes out.
No, .NET languages are compiled to bytecode too.
This is pretty late, but the leader of Google X had an interview with Charlie Rose: http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/12321
A video recorded with the glasses came out yesterday: Now this is amazing. I don't think this is the final quality of the video capabilities, though. Some people say the camera size doesn't allow for it, but I severely doubt that seeing how Android phones have cameras just marginally larger and they go up to 1080p. This'll be like a more useful and well-fitted version of the GoPro! Slightly less fisheye, though.
That looks fantastic, apart from the stutter (which is understandable, considering it's a very alpha device). I was expecting a blurry mess.
I'd really, really want some, except I actually want to see how they look.
I'd like to hear from some Google employees about how it's running right now. I now it's a proof of concept and still in experimental phases, but I'm curious. [editline]28th May 2012[/editline] And I really, really hope something comes of this, an actual product. This seems too awesome to let fade into the valley of useless, never created ideas.

These are awesome, but it seems like all they're shaping up to be are cameras and face mounted GPS systems. Any word on the release date, yet?

Also, I'm really hoping (even though it's probably a pipe dream) for things like AR keyboards that get visually projected in front of you for use.

honestly i couldn't care less about the ability to record video or pictures, i just want the HUD/ AR aspect
honestly i couldn't care less about the ability to record video or pictures, i just want the HUD/ AR aspect
I'm hoping for some kind of "black box" ability, so if you see something strange that you didn't expect to see, it would already have been recorded, like the glasses would be auto-recording on standby but, it would delete older stuff unless if some kind of button is pushed. And then the last 5 or so minutes of recording would be saved.
