I used to have this monstrosity.

It even had dials on the front telling you just how SUPER TURBO FAST your processor was going. (Not really, it was temperature / fan speed)
L.E.D's and fans
that was what made your computer fast when you were little
Why not..

I had computers before 2000 but I can't remember, basically an older model of that HP and an old '96 IBM. The HP was the first gaming one, I played alot of Tribes, CS and Theme Hospital on that bitch. Then I got into MMORPGs in 2001 :( it was all downhill... The first computer I built ever was the one in the 2004 pic, I was 14 "Fuck yeah!" and my 9600XT came with a free copy of FarCry, was badass, got like 35 FPS on that shit.
I don't get why Lian-Li goes through the effort to make a nice case and then they don't paint the interior. Its super sexy from the outside and when you look inside its all like "blegh".

Because no one is going to see the inside of your Lian Li because they're not about glitzy light up fans and perspex window side panels.
I'd still prefer a painted black interior. Just looks nicer. When I get one I'll have to paint it.

I've only had three computers in my life.
And they were all pieces of shit.

I still have that first case you posted sitting in the corner of my room, that was a fun case but the bottom back leg broke off after a couple years, it wasn't the strongest. Then I moved up to a Cooler Master HAF 932. Best case I've ever gotten.
If anyone notices between like 05-09 we had this period in cases were they were like super futuristic looking, Now we went back to sleekness. I'm kinda upset Antec killed there case design. I like my Antec 1200, Next case will just be a cosmos 2
Next case for me after this Thermaltake V2 is a Bitfenix Prodigy. Hands down the nicest case on the market imo.

Wow, I still have one of the emachines ones, exact same case. I've fitted it with a 250GB HDD and use it as a backup server.

Antec 900, which started out using most of the internals from the XPS 420. Later upgraded with a 5870 as seen in the picture. The XPS 420 was later rebuilt to a server.

Corsair 700D, my current setup. Mobo/CPU/RAM replaced (not in the pics), but otherwise it's got all the parts from the Antec 900 plus an SSD (also not in the pics).

Did you choose this case because it has the basic form of an Apple powermac G5?

Yep. I almost got an XPS laptop instead of the 420 too. So glad I didn't. I don't think I'd be where I am now if I'd gone with that instead.

I still have mine, and it works. It's shabby though. I had to replace the harddisk a few years back after I left it in the couch for a few hours, and I've upgraded it from 1GB to 2GB RAM. I broke the plastic cover over the harddisk bay in the process, and the screen has a weird light spot around the edge. The charger cable is completely shredded, and doesn't work anymore. The battery sensor has gone out aswell, so you have to guess how long you have left before it goes flat. I colored over the vents on the sides of the keyboard at one point, and placed a sticker saying "Grande" next to the Inspiron logo over the keyboard, so it reads "Inspiron Grande". Sounds like an Italian sports car or some shit.
Real clustered and messy, yes, but it's my desk and I know where I have everything. Remade my room a couple of months ago (thus having the shelf behind my desk so messy), so it's actually a real improvement from before
