I think MICKE looks a bit better as a corner desk but that too is pricey.
The GALANT is a little too barebones for my tastes
I guess it depends on where you put it, but when I think corner desk I think in a corner of a room, and I'd get the desk that offers me the most storage.
Not seeing corner models for either of these...? Also the Micke doesn't seem to have enough depth.
They'll be listed under L-shaped
GALANT INCOMING!
(I want that desk, when I can afford it)
I had to go to Minneapolis for work, so I stopped at IKEA and bought a corner GALANT with the extension. I expensed everything so it's like free shipping! I live 300 miles away. I just need to move into a bigger place now so I can use the thing.

Oh alright. Last question, are there any standalone file cabinet/drawers that go well with this? (edit: found the galant one but it is kind of ugly)

materials?
price range?
preferred shop?
Why does everyone go for Galants and Mickes
I still love my heavy as fuck wooden desk from around the 80s

Hell' we've had this thing since before I was born, that's how long it's lasted
~because modern, minimalist~
because bedrooms are where people decide whether they want to fuck you or not
I could just turn on the ~RGB lights~ on ~red~ color
why exactly do you need 3 monitors? if you don't know, you don't need them. gaming on 3 monitors is a gimmick, 2 monitors are usually enough for serious multi tasking.
If you have the money why not? I went from having a 24" & 19" to three 24" screens and even that's a massive improvement for multitasking now. I don't need them but are quite useful.
I realize that three monitors is a gimmick, I want to use at least two no matter what. And If I can add a third later why not? I am constantly using my second monitor to multitask, and with school work I think that a third would be even more useful. Although I do game a lot, which is the primary reason. But I don't know if spending more on one larger monitor would be 'better' than using three.

uh, not really. I have 2 monitors and I still feel that a third would be a massive improvement. It's not a gimmick if it's genuinely good or useful.
because bedrooms are where people decide whether they want to fuck you or not
surely it helps? if you have a shitty room covered in dirt and shit it'd definitely put some people off. besides nobody said anything about having a nice bedroom = somebody is going to fuck me, it's just a ridiculous assumption you came up with. i like to have a nice bedroom because it's a good place to be, i don't like to rot in my own filth and enjoy a good environment.

I agree. The Galant is overhyped, probably because someone with a nice setup had one and it just kind of snowballed from there. There's literally nothing special about it.

Maybe people will buy certain products just because someone else has them, But not with a expensive desk. I think the most people who have bought a Galant also looked around for other desks.
Not really much to see but its kinda messy right now.
This is my desk here:

Which desks do you think are better?
That TV is awesome.
I had that TV for years since I got it from Woolworths, still works a treat. I had another in South Africa which was a Rhapsody. Same design but it had AV input. This one doesn't, sadly. And the bad news is when I tried bringing back the one from Durban it broke when it was lost then found.

Haha you know something is old when you bought it from a store that doesn't exist any more

I meant for gaming, I did go on to say how I always use my second and think a third would be even more useful.

Oh, sorry. Must've somehow skipped that part when I was reading. :v:
This is a Galant right? Because that's exactly what I want, an L-desk with shelf things like that. Although I'm pretty sure he added those himself.
The nearest IKEA is 213 miles away, however. Not sure how I'd even get one.
[editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
$349 to ship that to me :v:

It's always cheaper to drive to the nearest IKEA and pick them up.
Those shelves look like they're made out of some planks you can buy at IKEA and some of the adjustable legs they sell.

I want my room to look like that one day.
why exactly do you need 3 monitors? if you don't know, you don't need them. gaming on 3 monitors is a gimmick, 2 monitors are usually enough for serious multi tasking.
After using 3 monitors for a few months I can't stand working with a single screen anymore. Gaming on 3 monitors ins't a gimmick it's just highly unsupported by game devs.
I'm going to post my own again hopefully with some better pictures. I've moved some of my posters around and just tidied up a lot in general :)
Also contributing to the dual monitor's are gimmicks thing going on...I have 3 :S I normally use my first two for Photoshop, looking at before and afters, or just stuff like playing minecraft on the left monitor, with facepunch or facebook on right and iTunes on the third mini usb one that you see in the middle of my main two....I plan on getting that one that the xbox is using to be a the 4th monitor with that KVM switch I found.

SO EXPENSIVE. I wonder if you could make something just like that with things from B&Q or somewhere for about a fraction of the price!
A better picture
Which desks do you think are better?
The Galant is a good desk, but it's overhyped
It's just a flat plyboard with four legs
No drawers
No shelves
Nothing fancy
And there are thousands of desks like that
[editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
Maybe I'm looking at it wrong
I guess it's kind of a "build your own workspace" kinda thing
because you can get corner addons and shit
why exactly do you need 3 monitors? if you don't know, you don't need them. gaming on 3 monitors is a gimmick, 2 monitors are usually enough for serious multi tasking.
It depends on what you do with those monitors. I personally have two monitors but only game on one. If you're quite a multitasker though you can find a ton of use out of three monitors. Like for me with my online schooling I'd have an Office document open on one, a PDF or two on another, and my browser open on the third.

I completely agree. Whenever I'm upstairs on my brother's single screen PC I get a little agitated because I'm constantly cycling through windows. I like the idea of evenly distributing my open items to multiple monitors. It makes my work flow much easier. Especially being an amateur photographer; I like having Bridge open on one screen and photoshop on the other.

Some of us don't have Ikeas in our states :(
So I'm going to just get a balling outta control folding table.
