My brother was allergic to cats, but after owning cats for years, he doesn't get any allergies. Now he can stuff his face into our cats vigorously.
If you only get a stuffy nose when around cats, I just say give a cat a go anyway, you'll grow out of it in a few years (more like a decade but the allergies continuously decrease so it'll be fine in a few years).
Uhm dude that's not how allergies work, you should consult a doctor (You know, the guy with the PhD) and discuss possible treatments, they are usually pretty fast, easy and most important: They work and aren't potentially lethal.

Allergies do come and go though, you don't always have them for life. I'm sure your body can build up a resistance. When your deathly allergic to bees for example, they give you treatments of bee venom that make you sick but your body gets the chance to build up antibodies to fight the venom, so when you actually get stung your body is prepared and you are not as allergic anymore.

Yeah, my mom is deathly allergic to bees, and I recently lost my allergy to poison ivy.
