Get your cables managed! That's one sexy desk you have.
the setup under there is temporary actually, i plan on getting some vacuum tubes and routing everything through them
Guys I need your help. I'm repainting my room but I have NO idea what color I want.
Here are some pictures of my room (click to enlarge).

What's wrong with the way it is now? I'd get a new carpet/wood floor instead of painting, some new bed sheets, more framed posters to fill the walls (identical size, don't over-do it), a desk lamp to replace your stand-up one (warmer temperature, easier on the eyes, cozy).
Well I've had this room for a very long time and I think it needs to be refreshed. The pictures don't really show its true color. It's currently white.

I'm in the process of redoing my room and have decided to get a white tinted wood flooring and some nice shades of blue for the walls, I'd suggest heading down to Lowes/Home Depot/whatever home improvement store and grabbing a bunch of those free paint sample cards and taping them up on your wall to find a color you are happy with
I'm considering blue but there is so many shades and hues to chose from. I'll definitely stop by Home Depot soon.

I'm partial towards white, looks cleaner and bigger, but noone can really answer that question for you, it's your room, you've got to decide.
Well to be honest, that also depends on whether you're willing to buy some new furniture. Because right now your desk nicely contrasts with your walls. Since it's not actually black, though, picking a good colour for your room that will look good with your desk isn't easy.
What I'd recommend is what was already mentioned: get some cool stuff framed, make it a bit more minimalistic, maybe replace the drapes with something simpler or of a different colour. The floor lamp could be replaced as well for something that looks a bit more classy or sturdy. And as was already mentioned: think about replacing the carpet for a wooden floor with a rug on it somewhere if you have the space for one. It really does look better.

This is pretty much how I envision my setup looking in a perfect world. Bravo sir.

That chair is $1100, and I love them. Herman Miller Embody chairs, they are wonderful and I want one in my future, I just want to build a new studio around it, lol.
I've spent the day cleaning my office, tossing out everything I don't need, I've got goodwill bags full of games, old hardware, art supplies, everything that I've got way to much of already. I am taking the proper steps to having a hyper organized house. I'm amazed how much I really don't need.
Considering my track record of breaking office chairs I think I'll give this one a miss.
Going off Herman Millers track record, that chair will be awesome for the next half century. I bet it'd be decently tough to break.

Is it bad if when I look at that all I can think of is being annoyed by that chair rolling around on the wood floor?

It's not an issue, doesn't roll around at all once you're on it.
So I just put together a Vika Amon desk with the Vika Annefors from IKEA. Disappointed that the table top just sits on top of the legs rather than actually be attached. Can anyone with this desk tell me if they have had any problems or anything?
Here's a pic of it from the IKEA website:

you know you're poor when your cinder block desk is made out of fake cinder blocks

I can vouch for that. I've been through the factory floor that builds that chair.

IIRC he has a plastic conduit running behind the monitors

Sorta like this

Unless the cable channel runs parallel to the monitors over to the tower area and then drops down I don't think he is using cable channels like that. I'd venture to say they are simply ran through the wall. I ran mine through the wall and have not regretted a thing, I run my keyboard line differently though, I was not about to drill a few USB sized holes in my desktop for that, considering I have no idea how I'll want this setup in the future.

(Toys are now gone, since I've got a pistol behind the montior and didn't want my nephews kocking a toy behind it and fishing around to get it back.)

Just curious, what pistol and how do you have it mounted?

He had a picture with another angle. He is using these cable channels.

Pipes!
does anyone know what desk he has? Speakers too
Just curious, what pistol and how do you have it mounted?
Glock 26 Gen 3, plastic holster screwed to the wall between the 30" and the wall, it just barely fits and no one could ever see it unless they leaned over and peered down somehow, and that'd be hard since it's right up against the wall. That's one of the benefits of living in your own house, guns anywhere you want, lol.
I moved into my dad's about a month ago, I guess I should make a new post...
I have my own own office now. If a friend brings his PC over, he can use the the desk that the printer is sitting on.

I gave a shit for a few minutes, so I tidied up the cables. The grey one you see going off to the right goes down two floors and connects to my server in the basement, not shown.

In my bedroom, I have a fold-out desk that I keep my laptop on. My brother got a new TV, so I got the old 19" 1280x1024 POS that he was using before, which is good enough for watching downloaded TV shows in bed.

Does the center shelf just slide out?
I can't use speakers for gaming and sometimes not even music, I hate knowing somebody can hear what I'm doing
