So right, this is more of a "To be sure" thread, because yestoday while i was gaming some NFS shift, my computer started acting wierd, so when i closed all apps, all my programs ran really slowly, so i tried to defrag it and see if it had helped, but it didn't. So i tried system repair or disk repair, before windows starts up, and it took like 2 hours for it to get done, afterwords when i got into windows, it started to act strange and explorer.exe crashed several times, not only that, but the screen hangs, and it bluescreened several times before i decided to try to install windows 7 from new on. But again i ran into a problem, the installer would just freeze and get nowhere, i did let it stand for like 4 hours but nothing happened. And it always just rebooted. So is this fault caused a shady harddrive? (Note* my harddrive is old, and it clicked everytime i wanted to delete something from the recycle bin)
geez 3 hours and no reply's..
Download and run hard drive diagnostic software from your hard drive manufacturers website.
(e.g. If it's a Seagate drive, download the SeaTools diagnostic application from the Seagate website)
Backup what you can BEFORE running any type of diagnostic software in case it fails during the test. If you think a drive is failing, the point is to make your backups as current as possible while minimizing the amount of drive use.
You should have current backups anyway.
Hard Drive Sentinel will show you the health of your disks. Its free and awesome.
