It will give you a noticable difference, but the 590 won't give a noticable difference over, say, the HD 6870 because it's complete overkill. You'd get about 400FPS, even though your monitor can likely display only 60.
Okay, my monitor can only display 120
I wouldn't buy a GTX 590 just for Garry's Mod. That's overkill. It's much cheaper to go with something lower tier then, like a GTX 560.
I am not getting it only for gmod, that would be stupid.
I'd normally say it's overkill as a 580 can max everything, but since you have a 120hz monitor you'll probably benefit from it, as long as money really isn't an issue and you're not getting a loan for this or should probably spend €300 on something else get the 590.

I really doubt the banks would even give €300 to a 13 year old. I am using my money that I have earned myself and that I don't want just sitting around. Most of the money is saved for college and stuff but there is the little I put aside to use for random shit I *want*, not need.
As I said, a 580 will max everything with good frames but if you want to take advantage of your 120hz monitor on newer games (BF3 for example) a 590 will definitely have an advantage, your call. And how did a 13 year old make €1,500+? Bitmining back in the day or what?

I bought a shit-ton of coins when it went down to like 3 dollars about half a year ago and sold them when the price was 31+ dollars. Yeah, I calculated that I made about 4K from that. also when the price as around 14 dollars per BTC I had in total all my coins combined about 12K dollars.
If you're not pulling my chain you're very lucky or an investing genius, I could of sworn I remember you posting something similar about buying a computer from bitmining money a few month back, what happened to that?

I was about to buy, but then I wanted to wait for BF3 to actually come out. I don't consider myself and investing genius, I just consider myself not an idiot. Most people just went "hurr durr money lets buy tons of bitcoins at a random time" and then they went "hurr durr I lost my life saving this is an outrage hurr durr" Basically they did stupid things. You just have to know when to buy and sell, for example if you see the New York Times posting an article with the title "BITCOINS: MONEY OF THE FUTURE" you know that it is good time to buy bitcoins because there is going to be more demand and more demand=value rising.
I didn't even know about bitcoins before they were too popular to make money on them. If you have that much money I'd just get two 580's, better performing for almost the same price and if you get a good board with it you'll have no cooling issues.

What would be a good board to go with it? Sorry for being so uninformed..
Link me to a website you'll buy it from and I'll work some magic. Get two 580's, put them under water, overclock to 1ghz core and call it a day.

Sorry, it is in estonian, but the search is above, "Graafikakaardid" is GPUs "Vesijahutus" is watercooling
I was only kidding with the watercooling, if you're really willing to spend another 200-300 euros on a good loop go ahead but it's not as easy as building a computer, my first water build took a good week to get everything perfect, if you really want watercooling I recommend posting on overclock.net in the water section asking for a loop, they'll be happy to help. I'll build one on a website I know my way around and you can just add the components on that website, but hardware is on a logarithmic scale so you come to a point where price:performance drops very fast and when you get to that point (which in two 580's land has already dropped) you stop spending money and start saving it for upgrades in the future. Already this is stupid money territory (1800 euros) and with that much money you have so many options but SLI 580's + 2600k is the way to go, just ask BRT.

You don't really want to get better than this without spending money for the sake of it, RAID0 SSD's, Tri GPU configurations and water cooling loops just aren't worth it for a normal user who plays games and has a lot of money, so save your cash if you're wanting more.

There must be one otherwise why would anyone buy the 590?
A 590 is cheaper than two 580's by about 20% and performs about 20% less too so it fits in the market decently, 590's are usually bought by overclockers and such so they can stick water on them, It's a niché product just like two 580's. [editline]26th October 2011[/editline] You need to decide between one of these: A. Get just a 570/580 now and enjoy games on max with good frames, keep money in the bank for upgrading later on (probably the smartest option). B. Get a 590 or two 580's and just go nuts, you'll be taking advantage of your 120hz monitor on newer games and you'll be set for a good year after a 570/580 runs out of juice but it'll cost you.

It's always nice to see people helping in the H&S section, even when the question is deemed by a lot of the members to be "stupid" or "funny". We need to not jump on people who may not be as knowledgeable in computers as others.
A 590 is not 20% slower just because its clock speed is 20% lower than the 580. You will only experiance an average of 5 fps loss on average from my experiance. And no, the card is not targeting overclockers. You cannot even overclock the card much anymore thanks to nvidia disabling voltage raising in the recent drivers.
It's not always 20% slower you're right, looked at about 5 different reviews all stating it's between 10-20% depending on game/resolution etc. Obviously it's just one benchmark (Metro 2033 max) so it doesn't show much but you get the idea. And if it's not overclockable that's even worse, It's a great card B!N4RY but the fact that you have one already makes your argument biased, it fits in the market just before two 580's so it's not a complete waste but.. if you're spending that much why not just spring the extra and go for the actual thing.
Because the few frames extra you're getting out of it is not worth spending >$200 additional plus $150 for a extra waterblock?
You don't need watercooling for two 580's, far from it. Anyway it doesn't matter, either one is fine.
You don't need watercooling for two 580's, far from it.
That's contradicting what you're saying earlier
Get two 580's, put them under water, overclock to 1ghz core and call it a day.
I was kidding, I'm saying that under water 580's are silly with overclocking, I said that further up.
