I have a 2 gb so this is good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.270531. What about the power supply?
upto 4
If it can utilize up to 4 cores I think he could wait to get the cpu and just get a psu and gpu. Then if it doesn't run well then buy the cpu.

a 6000+ will be fine I am not sure the mobo will accept quads so a dual core is fine
why not kill 2 birds with one stone?
yea op get that combo should be all you need

The motherboard already has a quad. Also it will be cheaper to upgrade later.

So my stock power supply will do ok? Just say the word then Ill get it http://redirectingat.com/?id=629X1198&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.newegg.com%2FProduct%2FComboDealDetails.aspx%3FItemList%3DCombo.270531
it will be fine a 6000+ will do better than a quad on your budget
it will be fine a 6000+ will do better than a quad on your budget
you act as if he is choosing between the quad and the dual core? His computer already has the quad.
you act as if he is choosing between the quad and the dual core? His computer already has the quad.
but a 6000+ will out perform it
but a 6000+ will out perform it
But if the game will run on the quad why upgrade it. So that when he does upgrade the cpu he will get a better one.
it can support 4 but but that cpu is not meant for gaming reason it is at 1.8ghz

most dual cores beat it

I know it gets raped by the dual core but if it works it works and save that money and put it towards a computer later.
true but if he has the cash to spend make it worth it
true but if he has the cash to spend make it worth it
Yeah true what are the chances that that money will be saved.
So you just wasted an entire page to tell him he's right? Good going.
[editline]12:49PM[/editline]
4670 will run on a 300W power supply.
[editline]12:50PM[/editline]
And he has 4GB of RAM, why are you telling him to buy more?
true but if he has the cash to spend make it worth it
The OP has already stated his budget of $150.

[editline]07:59PM[/editline]
Actually, your 300w might be able to support it, but why not just get a new PSU that can support you for possible future updates.
I think I would prefer the combo deal that i was linked to. Im probably going to keep this pc for one more year anyway

Not necessarily. Your major concern is getting a graphics card. You might want to take that chart with a grain of salt. L4D2 will probably be optimized to run better on multiple cores. Now, along with a graphics card you might want to get a new PSU, however, the card I suggested would probably run with the PSU you currently have. I'd still suggest getting a new one for future upgrades.
[editline]09:04PM[/editline]
Yep. Looking at the reviews most people are getting them for lower end computers, many with about 250-300 watts on their PSU.
