and this is why you don't buy the G930 surround sound in headphones is a gimmick
Yes, it's not very useful, but you know it has a switch on the side to turn that off, right? I never use it, except when some apps seem to detect it as a surround system even in normal mode, which results in sound only coming from one side, so I flip it on. This only seems to happen in games. But you can fix this and make even surround applications see it as stereo by opening sound playback devices, selecting the headset, hitting configure, and disabling the center, sub, side, and rear channels. So you can just disable the channels, flip off emulated surround and forget it even exists. They're still a great headset, especially when equalized for your tastes using the new software.

Has anyone used a Logitech Anywhere Mouse? I'm considering getting one, based off a reply in the Quick Questions thread, but some of the reviews mention hardware reliability issues. And I've had less-than-perfect reliability with Logitech stuff. Both my Logitech mice ended up with malfunctioning buttons after a year, and my Logitech headset broke often and easily. However, I've mainly bought their cheap stuff (save the headset), so the reliability wasn't as much of a concern. But the one I'm considering is less low-end, about double what I've paid in the past. I would hope it's more reliable.
how the fuck does it sense on glass?
it's got a teeny tiny button on the bottom that gets pushed in when you set it down when the button is pushed but the laser can't see shit, it puts down this tiny coat of powder, then when you move the mouse it scoops it back up for reuse later.

Particularly that wide, flat bottom.
Why not go up a little bit and get a Logitech Performance Mouse MX ive heard its pretty good too.
Too big and unportable for my needs. I'll just repost the thing I asked in Quick Questions, because I'm getting more answers here than I did there: So I'm looking for mouse recommendations for my laptop. Currently, I'm using either a Logitech M315 (if on the go) or a rebranded HP VoodooDNA (if using as a desktop (often with multiple monitors plugged in)). The M315 is dying (middle click failing), and I want to consolidate to just one mouse for my laptop (the Voodoo will be reused for my desktop). Absolute Requirements: Actual scroll wheel - no ball or touch abomination Small enough to use in cramped spaces (eg. in the car, on the couch) At least three buttons If wireless, a long battery life (I've used an Apple touch mouse - needed new batteries every other week); if wired, a small cable Works properly under any OS (Windows/Mac/Linux) and doesn't rely on weird-ass drivers to work Highly desired: Five buttons (or more). Wireless with either native bluetooth, or a USB adapter small enough that I can put my laptop in its bag without taking the adapter out (the M315 adapter is a good example) If over $50, should be durable and reliable (if cheap, should still last at least a year). Desired: Adjustable DPI (at least to 1200 or so - I don't need 3200 DPI) Not look like ass Right now, I'm leaning towards a Gigabyte GM-ECO600, but I'm fully open to suggestions (a bit concerned about the size). Every other mouse I've gotten either came with a computer, or was literally the cheapest one in the store, so I really do not have much experience to go on as far as which brands and models are recommended.
Yay, 32GB install went without a hitch. NH-D14 is a pin to work around, but I just tilted the cooler a little and it the modules came out :o Can't wait for it to leak the heatpipe juices.
I have one of those early SSD's back when they costed a bajillion dollars and OCZ was pretty much the only brand available. One of these. http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-vertex-2-sata-ii-2-5-ssd.html/ 60gb cost me about $300 I'm thinking of buying a new one.
Intel, Crucial, Corsair, or Samsung. Maybe plextor. Those are probably topdog now.

The battery life is great, I've had it for months and I've just yesterday replaced the single AA battery. There's only one programmable button, which is one less than what you're looking for.
The G700 is good if you don't mind spending the money, wish it had less side buttons though, four gets confusing.
Are the Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm and 64mb buffer any good? Or are the WD Desktop Black 2TB or WD Desktop Green 2TB they have pretty much the same specs i was wondering if the seagates are unstable or something. The seagate one is cheaper btw.
I have the 2TB 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda, it's fine, drive performance is what you'd expect. The WD Caviar Black is similar performance and was nearly twice the price when I bought it, so I'd say it's a good deal.

I've recently been appointed head of some sort of tech squad at our school that's being instated next year. Freshmen are all getting school-appointed laptops, and generally everyone at our school is tech-illiterate, so the administration decided to have an invite-only "IT Study Hall" which would offer credits for fixing laptops and really any technology-related problem around the school. Also, it looks like all my "peers" are not too computer-smart, so I will likely be dealing with a lot of this. Most of them know how to download some torrents or can make games on gamemaker and thus are known as the "1337 haxxorz" around the school. I'm more of a software guy, but I have not been asked to do much PC repair prior to this. I recover files by using an external linux boot disk, I can take computers apart and put computers back together again, and generally standard stuff. Although I do not have much experience in the field of PC Repair, I feel I am prepared to handle nearly anything software-related with a combination of past experiences and google. All of this is going to be Windows related, but the Graphics Arts department uses Macs, so I guess I may be dealing with those. This leads me to my question: I know that you guys lean more on the hardware side than software side, so what sorts of stuff should I be prepared to fix hardware-wise? Software advice would be appreciated too, as well as any sort of items I would need to keep in my personal office space to use to fix computers. So far, I have a couple flash drives, a couple sized screwdrivers, and some canned air. I could bring my extensive library of linux distribution disks and my Puppy Linux or Backtrack Live USBs I use for recovering files from hard drives that refuse to operate correctly.

The quality doesn't compare. Assuming the current price of $90, there exists a myriad of 2.0 headphones that will outperform the shitty stereo ones completely. They don't compare. You think they're nice because you haven't used a proper high quality setup yet.
