starting to browse the Employee purchase programs my job offers with EVGA,Microsoft,Intel etc and the discounts are only 20-30 bucks instantly but all of them include additional 30 buck rebates. So not looking bad for 500$ for a EVGA GeForce GTX 680+ 4GB w/Backplate and motherboards etc for decent discounts. Still rather buy it through my store directly though
Hey Gman, The fan you posted in the thread that I bought arrived.
£230 for a monitor, whatget? I'm bang in the price range for either 24" IPS or 24" 120hz and can't decide whether I want better colour or more hertz, don't want to risk a catleap plus catleaps are glossy and I can't deal with that. If it helps, I play games for enjoyment not to be competitive, and I do my fair share of image/RAW processing.
Had a great experience with my LG IPS 236V monitor - 23" IPS panel for about 160 quid when I bought it, probably less now. 8ms (There's a 14ms one too if you're not careful - the 235V) response so it's not ideal for gaming, but I've found it more than decent for gaming, and the colors are great. Has "Anti-Glare 3H" screen treatment, which means non-glossy, I believe.

Seeing this, I have a sudden urge to defrag my SSD.
Seeing this, I have a sudden urge to defrag my SSD.
DON'T YOU DARE.
I honestly wish Intel would make an IvyBridge E X89 or something 8 cores, 16 threads. 3.5ghz. Sell it to me. So I can run 64-128gb ram. I want more encoding power.
Why don't you get an i7-3930K? (6 Cores, 12 Threads) The X79 chipset supports up to 64GB on 8 DIMM slots. I have 8x4GB at the moment.
oh god please dont
DON'T YOU DARE.
Do it. [editline]19th August 2012[/editline] Just to spite wingar, do it.
Seeing this, I have a sudden urge to defrag my SSD.
Defraggler should hide SSDs because there is going to be somebody who buys an SSD because "OMG IT SO COOL/FAST/WHATEVER" and then try to defrag the shit out of it.
Defraggler should hide SSDs because there is going to be somebody who buys an SSD because "OMG IT SO COOL/FAST/WHATEVER" and then try to defrag the shit out of it.
No it says "It's a SSD"
If you click the defrag button you even get a dialog warning you about it being bad
Like this? [editline]19th August 2012[/editline] damnit ninja'd with the real thing :c
If you click the defrag button you even get a dialog warning you about it being bad
Ah, carry on then. Not with the defrag though.
Ah, carry on then. Not with the defrag though.
I was going to actually start a defrag and post the image just to mess with wingar :v:

Are there any good water cooling sets available for gpus?
That's so nice. Here's mine. Only 1 though.
SSD buddies! Unfortunately I only get half that on SATA II.
My hard drive write speed is like 10 mb (Its in "I'm dying" condition for more than a year now), I'm jealous
My hard drive write speed is like 10 mb (Its in "I'm dying" condition for more than a year now), I'm jealous
Use passmark disc checkup on it and point out some obviously bad looking things It could be something really simple, for all you know.
Here's a tip if you have a supported mobo (Intel Chipset). Download Intel Rapid Storage Technology manager and use it to enable write back caching, 'tis how I got to boost my speeds to nearly 1 GB/s read.
SSD buddies! Unfortunately I only get half that on SATA II.
I would have an SSD right now if I wasn't stuck with Sata II :( There isn't much benefit over my HDD's like this.
Actually yes there is.
Actually yes there is.
Not when the price:performace ratio comes into play
Not when the price:performace ratio comes into play
You can always upgrade to SATA 3 later and still get a fast as fuck experience beforehand.
Like this?
So basically you can feel bad or cancel feeling bad
I would have an SSD right now if I wasn't stuck with Sata II :( There isn't much benefit over my HDD's like this.
A whole lot more factors go into real-world system performance than max sequential speeds. Edit: Is there even a difference in IOPS when testing over SATA II vs SATA III?
You can always upgrade to SATA 3 later and still get a fast as fuck experience beforehand.
Yeah, I plan to. I've been considering an internal PCIe x1 SIII card, but I don't really know which I should get.
Yeah, I plan to. I've been considering an internal PCIe x1 SIII card, but I don't really know which I should get.
You worry about price:performance then talk about getting a dedicated SATA III card just so you can get the maximum sequential speed?
