I have a 2GB pagefile on my SSD, but I usually have about 30GB cached with superfetch anyways.
I want to watercool my HD7950, are there any good blocks or even a kit.
A lot of programs go nuts if you don't have a pagefile IIRC, I'd keep it at a marginal size just to be safe but I'm sure if something that's not video rendering/encoding takes up 16+GB of RAM there's spomething wrong with your PC
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/2Yqmt.png[/thumb] HOW the fuck is it this good when I haven't defragmented for the longest ti- oh wait Vista has auto-defrag
22% fragmentation isn't good. Around 10% is already pretty bad, considering it means that statistically every tenth block you read is non-contiguous relative to the rest of the file.
Looks like I know what I'm doing...
If it's over 5% I feel compelled to defrag. I did find a 93% fragmented drive at work though.
Also here is that ramdrive video [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFoZHbVkmY4[/hd] [editline]19th August 2012[/editline] I'm always having a hard time thinking up a thumbnail idea.

My computer just blue screened when sitting at the Crysis main menu. guess I can't play Crysis :( [editline]19th August 2012[/editline] and now my hard drive is squealing when playing certain games great
Some of the text is cut off though.
That's an issue with youtube and Facepunch. The thumbnail and on YT, it looks fine, but I guess I could offset it.
Speaking of SSDs and pagefiles, can't you just set up a NTFS junction to a secondary hard drive?
Alright I uploaded a fixed thumbnail.
Huh, I actually haven't checked how fragmented my drives are. I didn't even have Defraggler installed. SSD is at 23%, hard drive is at 10%. Running a quick defrag on the latter now. I wouldn't have though it would get fragmented until I'd gotten near filling the drive. It's only half-full...
What is really irritating about inferior filesystems (FAT, NTFS) on SSDs is that you can't defrag them but they're horribly non-contiguous. Whereas even without defragging, in normal use in the long term, ext2/3/4 tends to stay at or below 10%.
What? Can't defrag them? And why does it matter if they are contigous on an SSD?
Also here is that ramdrive video [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFoZHbVkmY4[/hd] [editline]19th August 2012[/editline] I'm always having a hard time thinking up a thumbnail idea.
BF3 is fucking terrible with loading times, I've got 2 1.5TBs in RAID and I really can't be arsed to wait 10 minutes (exaggerated obv) for a map to load, especially if I only want to have a quick game. It's one of the main reasons I stopped playing.
What? Can't defrag them? And why does it matter if they are contigous on an SSD?
Even on an SSD, sequential access is faster than random. And if the fragments are less than the block size of the SSD...
I got a pleasant surprise earlier. Windows told me that my C: drive was running out of space. Turns out, I'd accidentally hit my FRAPS record key and it had been recording EVE Online (running at 1680*1050 with all settings maxxed), and I hadn't even noticed a performance hit. This computer is wonderful.
What? Can't defrag them? And why does it matter if they are contigous on an SSD?
Well I meant it'd feel very wrong to defrag a SSD. Of course you can. (Also it matters because I don't like hearing my files are non-contiguous. Mostly. Perfectionism, I guess.)
Looks like about 90% of the fragmentation on my hard drive came from Firefox. Aaaaand it's going to take about a day to do even a quick defrag, for some reason. Something seems wrong about that.
Clear your cache first?
Clear your cache first?
Well now I feel like a dumbass. Should be done in 10 minutes now.
Well now I feel like a dumbass. Should be done in 10 minutes now.
It'd be nice if Piriform made an all in one suite of its stuff, or at least make Defraggler able to run CCleaner before a defrag.
I buy Spotify premium then run to target because i need socks. Come home and my internet's down. Welp
I'd pay for a Piriform Suite with all the programs combined into one seamless tool
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/owLHj.png[/thumb] BAM. Just the pagefile remains fragmented (for obvious reasons).
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/owLHj.png[/thumb] BAM. Just the pagefile remains fragmented (for obvious reasons).
Enable boot-time defrag.
how do I clear my cache with ccleaner?
open CCleaner, then in the clearing options, enable, "clear cache and registry" or something of that sort [editline]19th August 2012[/editline] Don't be fooled that it's grey'd out [editline]19th August 2012[/editline] I just realized that at times, I alternate between grey and gray. I might confuse some people.
