The reloading of tabs is also pretty smart, considering the pages might have changed in the meantime. Of course, you should be able to disable it at will.
And I can't :v:
It's annoying =(
Do you have a source for that? I haven't honestly seen any confirmed specs for either model.
I'm pretty sure that the minimum WinRT requirements said that the devices need to have at least 2 GB of RAM, so I just figured that the Surface would have 2.

Oh well that would make sense. I've just noticed there's really no info about any confirmed specs beyond speculation. But yah if the minimum is 2GB then it'll have 2GB, but that might not mean more "usable" RAM if the OS requires more to run than Android or iOS. A big thing that intrigues me about surface is that even if it's 1366x768 or whatever it has cleartype which gives it a big advantage for font rendering compared to iOS or Android.
Pepper;37332218']Am i the only one here who hasn't managed to accidentally smash a laptop screen?
I smashed a desktop screen once. Big CRT, too.
Well, technically my cat did it. See, I was going through that educational phase where I would take all kinds of old equipment apart, put it back together and see if it still worked. I finished taking apart as much of the CRT as I could, but it was getting late so I left it on my desk (rather too small, in hindsight) and went to sleep.
I was woken around 1:00 AM by a sound that I shall approximate as "wobTHUDCRSHMREEOOOWtinktinktink". I later determined that the cat (Caesar I, IIRC) had been exploring (as cats are wont to do) and had been poking his face into the CRT tube (the big glass part) and knocked it over, about a four foot drop to the ground.

I hope no one got mad at the cat. It's not really Caesar's fault
[editline]20th August 2012[/editline]
I want a cat

Give me Caesar II

No, no-one was mad at the cat. It was a piece-of-junk monitor that was going to be thrown out anyways (which is why I was allowed to dismantle it). As for Caesar II, unfortunately I cannot give him to you.
You know what else is unfortunate? My family's computer. I came back to check up on it. SLOW AS BALLS. STILL USING THE 1024x768 SCREEN FROM LAST DECADE.
AND THE HARD DRIVE
WAS
SIXTY
THREE
PERCENT
FRAGMENTED

This is an important lesson to not leave your fragile stuff out where it could be easily knocked over if you have a nosy cat, folks

Opening up a CRT like that is a one way ticket to fucking it up for good if you really don't know what you're doing too

Especially if it doesn't get discharged first!
Touch. Zap. Dead.
How?
No idea. Opened it up after work and it looks like this. I left it on the floor of my girlfriend's room but nobody's owning up to stepping on it.
Oh god oh god oh god
That computer doesn't need a defrag, it needs an exorcism. Or maybe just nuke it from orbit and build a new one.
Still on XP (at least they've been installing updates)
There were two different versions of Oblivion installed side-by-side
Firefox hasn't been updated since version 3
ONE FILE WAS LITERALLY SPLIT INTO OVER NINE THOUSAND FRAGMENTS
SERIOUSLY
WHEN I TRIED TO GET DEFRAGGLER TO SORT BY FOLDER INSTEAD OF BY FRAGMENTS, IT SAT WAITING FOR FIVE MINUTES THEN CRASHED
It honestly might be faster to just buy them a new hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch.

As long as you don't wear an ESD strap, aren't touching anything grounded and are wearing shoes, you'll be fine.

holy Christ this Spacechem is addicting as shit
Have any of you guys played this before?

Ehh it was alright
Snuggletruck, Osmos and Uplink, though...
how the fuck do people do this
I suspect the 9000-fragments file was caused by running a Steam download while simultaneously running a defrag.
The rest is caused by continually filling the drive to within a few GB of its limit, then purging stuff and installing more, over the course of probably two years.

Played it, fun until you get stuck somewhere. It's not a game where you can easily blunder through a section you don't fully understand.
Um, I think Uplink is broken for me.
I press launch, and I'm in-game for like, a second then it crashes
Pepper;37332218']Am i the only one here who hasn't managed to accidentally smash a laptop screen?
I accidentally shot mine once.

With your PC, I wouldn't be surprised.
Hurr, it's Apple only
[editline]20th August 2012[/editline]
Oh wait, nevermind, it has no sys req for Windows
Ok, I might be about to turn myself in content, but I have a question:
How does it cost $50 to run 30 Mbps and $120 to run 100 Mbps over the exact same hardware?
I mean, the way I see it, if I have a 1 Gbps switch, it costs me the same to pump 10 Mbps over it as it does to pump the full 1 Gbps.
What am I missing here?
I accidentally shot mine once.
i hate when that happens

because capitalism, that's really all there is to it (no to mention they're, you know, splitting this bandwidth amongst thousands of people)
Um, after a steam client update, it now works
i hate when that happens

I wish i was kidding.

The bandwidth debate is a mess.
No you don't :v:
Actually, I really don't. Why? It was a mac.
[editline]21st August 2012[/editline]
So I have a $50 gift card for newegg, what buy.
Seating/Reseating RAM is painful. Surprised calluses haven't formed on my poor fingers.
Give me a list of stuff i should get.
I got a Corsair 500r case
and an reference HD7950
It can be in Germany so i can just let it get delivered to someone i know.
Or free shiping to Norway.
Budget?
Seating/Reseating RAM is painful. Surprised calluses haven't formed on my poor fingers.
For me it's mentally painful

I've tried upgrading 28 computers with ram once. Not fun.
This is why I only use RAM with passive coolers. No cutting your fingers off.

Yeah, same as well! You have to push it so damn hard that you think you're breaking the slot, the RAM itself and the mobo!
I've tried upgrading 28 computers with ram once. Not fun.
Ouch! Were your fingers bleeding afterwards?

... or probably even faster just to buy a new PC. Even budget ones are half decent nowadays. But then again, if whoever's PC it was probably likes to game so a graphics card would be needed too.
