your head.
i think if the majority of the thread doesn't give a shit about what you're talking about it's probably a good idea to stop posting things like that in the thread (i.e. dusty's brother, etc)
at least that was relevant to the original purpose of these threads in that he was fucking retarded
at least that was relevant to the original purpose of these threads in that he was fucking retarded
Cool, now it just seems like you guys both mention him just because there hasn't been a post in the thread within the past 30 minutes.

there really isn't another person to blame for his crappy unbalanced build :downs:

there's a difference between reporting on somebody doing something stupid and repeatedly nodding and poking each other, saying 'hey, remember that guy who was dumb? hah, he was so dumb! isn't this funny - please remember that he was dumb'

i think the only other time we mentioned him after the original saga was right there on the last page

Rest in peace in peace?
(pardon the blogging here)
So anyways...
I've finally gotten around to playing Skyrim, because I finally have a machine that can run it.
The combat's definitely better - you can tell they got some of the people who made Dark Messiah. The crafting/smithing/whatever systems are better, too. Even levelling is less needlessly complicated. Overall, it's a good sequel. But the game's still very unstable, as expected from Bethesda.
One problem is configuring the damn thing. It autoconfigured itself to "medium" on my rig - and I've gradually bumped up the setting to Ultra, the only improvements left are the 4xMSAA and 8xAF. The mouse sensitivity needs to be increased, but I can't find a place for that, either. And I'd like to lower the difficulty a notch, but nope, can't find that, either.
Another annoyance is saving. That is like my pet peeve - games with bad autosaves. Oblivion had it working great - save when entering a building, save after winning a battle. Only annoyances were if you did a lot of outdoor exploration with no combat, then died - you'd lose all that. Unless I missed an option, though, Skyrim doesn't seem to have the after-battle autosave, which has gotten me a dozen times. Very annoying - I actually just ragequit because I *finally* beat a dragon after a score of tries, then died five minutes later fighting a troll, sending me back to right before the dragon.
I do like my character, though. I'm role-playing a bit: I am M'kan Gol, the Black Scourge of the South, Dread Pirate Captain of the Timbershiv. My crew mutinied, and locked me in the brig. We were all captured by the Imperial fleet shortly after. I escaped the prison, pausing only to stick a knife in my treacherous first mate's back. I fled all the way to Skyrim, where I took the Nord name Hrelgar and tried to fit in. Being a massive Redguard swordsman, though, that didn't work out so well, and I was nabbed by the Empire once again. Then some crazy shit went down, yadda yadda dragon arrow to the knee dovakiin and now I can shout people to death. In a THICK PIRATE ACCENT, MATEYS!
I'm trying to figure out what game to play after Skyrim (I plan to finish a vanilla, unmodded (except for techfix mods) runthrough, then come back later and mod the shit out of it, maybe revive Whoreblivion (unless the community's changed (haha))). I've got New Vegas, Deus Ex, Far Cry 2, and Arkham City to catch up on, a Mass Effect 2 save I never finished (Farore I died right as I was going through the Omega Relay or whatever), and I'm partway through Crysis, which I installed mainly to see what it looks like at max settings (the answer: pretty fucking amazing). And once I clear *those*, I've got most of these to play through (note that, in my case especially, Steam's times are WAY off).
I want a PLP monitor setup. I kinda regret getting a 1080p monitor, a samsung with a huge bezel no less. It would be a bitch with this current monitor and I really like it. it stays cool to the touch after hours of use. I don't have cash for a new rig, let alone 3 new monitors. Maybe in the future when I have cash to spend I'll be able to invest in a 2560x1600 monitor and 2 1600x 1200 monitors. Probably just a dream though :saddowns:

I have never ever heard any of those "hardware stereotypes" except for the ATI ones. And maybe the Windows one too but that isn't hardware.

It was best thread.

"Playing oblivion while piss out drunk" was better
"Playing oblivion while piss out drunk" was better
Didn't last as long, though. There was only one real chunk of content, whoreblivion just kept delivering.
It was best thread.
Yeah, it was.
Changing topics again:
I'm kind of working on a new game idea. A competitive classic-style FPS (think Quake or Unreal). I'd say more, but there's a *possibility* this could become a commercial product, and the actually-innovative ideas are actually innovative, so I can't risk saying more. Just... emphasis on fast-paced gameplay. No cover system. No regenerating health. No iron sights. Just run around shooting people with oversized, zany guns.
I'd like to have a lot of gamemode variants in it. Modern games, you're lucky if there's anything besides "deathmatch" and "team deathmatch". You don't see Reverse Capture-The-Flag or the like too often, anymore.
I'm trying to brainstorm gamemode variants. There are basically only three "modes": Melee, Battle, and Warfare. Note that maps work in only one of the modes, because the scale and design changes drastically between them.
Each gamemode would have several variants. For instance, the small, unplanned Melee maps have deathmatch, team deathmatch, last man standing, team LMS, predator (based on the Mutant mode in UT2004), blood money (inspired by the Coin Melee in Smash Bros.), and a few others. The larger, symmetric Battle maps have another TDM variant, CTF, reverse CTF, football, etc. Warfare maps would be the biggest, designed for territory-control type modes (no vehicles, though, so still not Battlefield-sized maps).
What are some cool gamemodes you all would like to see in a game like this?
I would like to see you finish your old project first
Oh shit, I did have another project, didn't I?
Crap.

What happened to Horizon anyway? Haven't seen any updates in a while.
I haven't *worked* on it for a while. Too busy at work, only recently got access back to a machine with a proper development environment, and to be honest, I'm no longer that enthusiastic about elements of it.
Main thing right now is that I spend all day coding. Last thing I want to do when I get home is more coding. Mapping, or modelling, sure, but not programming.
Texting cute girl, she says "Coolio." I jokingly reply "The rapper?" She doesn't know who he is. This isn't going to work out...
