Also, what kind of a name is DVDVideoSoft? Digital Video Disc Video Soft?
[sp]Yes, DVD also means Digital Versatile Disc. Who cares?[/sp]
I just realised I had some form of malware, all images I clicked on redirected me to some website with the image url at the end for some reason.
In a freshmen CS recitation class. The TA asks everyone to say their name and what experience they have with programming. Now I've worked in a number of languages, but I'm obviously not proficient in most of them, so I just say "Objective-C".
I know there's usually that one weird kid in the class, but two kids list off what seemed to be every single language they've ever seen or heard of - something like "I know Java, PHP, Ruby, Lisp, Perl, C, C++, C#, Python, BASIC, Bash etc..." The other new CS majors around them who innocently know nothing were all impressed.

I have never heard anyone use the Digital Video Disc instead of Digital Versatile Disc
Calling it the former wouldn't make sense either because DVD's hold more than just video

I had a kid in a NON-IT CLASS talk about how he could write a program with "multiple outputs". He then proceeded to lean back in his chair, sip his Mountain Dew, and open his Alienware laptop.
I'm going to kill him and wear his skin as a victory.
Self content.
I was playing mirrors edge with that PhysX thing on, and I was wondering why my FPS was killing itself
I had my PhysX processor set to my CPU in the control panel :(
PhysX is a stupid gimmick but it is also a very cool stupid gimmick

A stupid propietary gimmick also
still a cool one though.
If it wasn't limited to Nvidia I think PhysX could actually be useful.

Blue leds on fans cool the CPU faster
I use green ones because it makes my computer more energy efficient :downs:

Worst part of that is PhysX could run perfectly fine on the CPU, but oh wait they sabotaged it.
How? x87 instructions. A long dead, long deprecated Floating Point instruction extension to x86, dead in favor of the infinitely more efficient SSE2, and SSE3, and SSSE3, and SSE4, and AVX, and so on. Hell, x87 is only supported by Windows as legacy support and is entirely executed in kernel mode, rather than the modern user-mode system we use now.
There is no reason Nvidia are running PhysX on x87 except so they can make their products look good. It's assholish and it's just disgusting. Hell, Nvidia have already gotten PhysX working on AltiVec for PPC (Similar to SSE) perfectly goddamn fine.
PhysX is just another stupid piece of shit to perpetuate the whole GPGPU market, to make GPU's better than they actually are, to make their products sell better and to fuck over people who want it otherwise. It stays that way because Nvidia wants it that way.

Hippie.
You can't do very parallel things like particles on CPU without it killing itself though.

Unfamiliar with SIMD, I see.

No wonder it ran like a constipated mule when I ran a physx demo from the CPU.

Oh and best part. It only runs on one thread.

Shit that's even worse, talk about a mule shitting bricks
Also I am pretty sure that both directx 11 and opengl (I think its called opencl) have similar functionality implemented, its just that nobody uses that
OpenCL has naught to do with OpenGL
You guys are going to want to come over to SH for a bit as the Apple vs. Samsung case verdict is expected to be announced today if there are no inconsistencies: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1207727
I have a red light. And it blinks. The louder the computer is the more it blinks.
Oh and a blue light on the power button.
Samsung's getting screwed over hard so far.
[editline]24th August 2012[/editline]
Holy shit $1.51B in damages
i have a UV light bar
it was much cooler back when I had liquid cooling but considering my Hyper212+ cools as effectively as my old liquid cooling, just without pump failures and very hot processors...

"Damages".
Are you fucking kidding me?!
Damages is the legal term.
Also, only $1,051,855,000. Apple wanted over twice that.
Samsungs geting torn apart. All patent claims are getting shot down so far. Lots of no's around

That's still way too much fucking money.
