Man. Letting your inner nerd rage out with a box of old hard-drives + a hammer is satisfying as all hell. The old IDE drive that had Windows ME installed on it fucking exploded. The platters disintegrated inside of it. It was awesome.

I've turned on hard drives with the cover off, and smashed hard drives with a hammer... but never both at the same time. :eng101:

Greatest idea ever.
you guys should pour glue or liquid soap on an open HDD while on. [editline]27th August 2012[/editline] the results are hilarious.
I'll have to smash a drive, then turn it on while it's behind a cement wall. Videos to come?
I'll have to smash a drive, then turn it on while it's behind a cement wall. Videos to come?
If you guys want i'll grab an old drive and video me pouring wood glue in it. while on
Is any stock cooler good? Why would anyone buy a stock cooler if they don't plan on changing it.
I use the stock cooler on my 460 because I use headphones so I don't mind the noise and it getting to 70C when under Furmark load while OC'd doesn't bother me because it isn't going to last any great deal of time longer at 60C. I imagine turning on a drive with dented platters will be something like this.
oh my god that's amazing

Considering it's a sandy bridge top-end i5 (2540m 2.6ghz 2-core 4-thread), I still had more than enough speed. In fact, I forgot that I changed that setting until about a week later when I went to play a game and it wasn't running quite as smooth as usual, and remembered what I did. The whole week prior I had used the machine for work every day and never noticed.

oh jesus http://www.audioholics.com/news/industry-news/super-hi-vision-8k-standard
Make. It. BIGGER
I hate HD as a term. "High" is fucking vague and will eventually not be considered high anymore. Stupid.
I hate HD as a term. "High" is fucking vague and will eventually not be considered high anymore. Stupid.
We'll probably just start using greater superlatives. I'm actually totally fine with the HD buzz because it actually means something, a display that is at least capable of displaying a certain amount of detail being 720p, where any marketing buzzwords before the "HD" part can be ignored, except in the case of "Full HD" which usually means 1080p.
The next thing is UHD, what's after that? Super Ultra High Definition? It's already ridiculous enough as it is.
Mega Max Super High Definition To The Extreme 2
Resolution of the High Resolutions Most Extreme Detail of Extreme Resolutions to the Max
QUHD I guess. Quad Ultra High Definition. FIHD. Fucking insane high definition
Higher Resolutíon Definition Than Your Eyes Definition X2
Fucking High Ginormous Extra Wide Bigger Than Life Ultra Mega Huge Extreme Resolution Better Than Retina x4 Definition
I dunno, some actual resolutions have long names. For instance, WQUXGA is Wide Quad Ultra eXtended Graphics Array, or 3840x2400, which is the 16:10 version of QUXGA (3200x2400), which is four times UXGA (1600x1200), which is the ultra extended version of SXGA (Super eXtended Graphics Array, 1280x1024) which is the super extended version of XGA (1024x768) which is an extension to VGA (Video Graphics Array, 640x480).

I'll take a guess WUXGA is 1680x1050
