• CIPWTTKT&GC v0x14 (v20): Turning it off and on all day every day

One of my computer's fans, probably the CPU one, is driving me nuts. It's constantly on, making this annoying noise. It's quiet, but loud enough for me to hear it. Maybe I should ditch the stock Intel cooler and buy a better one. [editline]-[/editline] I don't know, though. This could be anything, but fans are the only moving parts in my case.
My fluorescent desklamp is dieing. every time I turn it on, it feels like I am on a rave.
Put your finger on the center of each fan and slow it down, do this until you know what's driving you nuts.
I did that while I tried to record the sound. This is what I managed to record. That clicking noise came from my chair and the static isn't what is annoying. It's not really high pitched sound but close. [editline]30th August 2012[/editline]

Start collecting them and put them on at the same time.
No more mechanical drives for me. I can deal with the smaller storage space since I don't play as many games as I use to. Plus I'm getting two more Corsair Force GTs next month, both 240gb versions. Using the Intel 320 as my boot and all my Corsair Force GT drives are storage. Although I kept my Samsung F3 and plan on making it an external back up drive. Just need a case for it.
I want to buy a 3TB external drive for storage and SSD everything else. I don't trust SSDs yet since we really haven't had a lot of insight into how long they will last
If you buy an SSD today, by the time it would stop working SSD's will be a lot cheaper
If you buy an SSD today, by the time it would stop working SSD's will be a lot cheaper
Exactly. Plus right now I have a good chunk of disposable income so why not. The only things I spend money on is food, my dog, and my computer. The things that keep me happy.
Dell 30 arrived. :v: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/V79It.jpg[/img_thumb] Oh, and David Tennant - screen anti matte seems fine, no 'sparkles' when you sit 1+ft away. Very close up you can see them though.
I think the AG coatings on the 30" are a bit better than the 27"'s. Cause closer than about 1.8' the AG is pretty unbearable. Just got the HP ZR2740W last night as recommended by BRT, but honestly, I don't even think I'll game on this, so I might "upgrade" to the U2711 due to OSD and ability to change different profiles on the fly. That or I might need to invest in a colorimeter as the colors on the specific monitor I got is a bit warmer than my liking. Might not even be 6.5K color temp. The AG on this particular monitor is directly affected by the brightness. It isn't too bad for me at least, I was using my sisters 2007WFP for the past few days. We're going to be "sharing" workstations and since she's an artist she's going to appreciate my workstation and the new monitor. Plus, the MBP can do pretty much anything I need to do related to work apart from when I need to migrate a shitton of Linux / windows systems. PS: Wasn't able to upload pics last night, because my ISP... COX... was uh... "flacid" for the entire day yesterday. And now I noticed my upload is capped at 1.4, and doesn't even power boost. Cox is awful. Had then when I lived in California. Once I moved out of Orange County I got Fios in Diamond Bar. Wayyyyyy better.
Are iiyama monitors any good?

Do SSDs have a clear warning when they're about to die, like the clicking and weird noises mechanical drives make? I don't really care that they don't last as long as mechanical drives, but I do care about knowing when they're about to die so I don't lose my data. I could probably switch to an all-SSD computer, seeing as I have managed to get around life with 160GB of storage (between two 80GB drives!), but is it possible to have a completely passive cooling system on a non-overclocked gaming PC?

They were up into the hundreds of terabytes and it was still doing fine. I'm not sure what'd happen though, my guess is Windows would start warning of corruption and want to run a boot-time chkdsk like when you get bad sectors on a hard drive.
One of the main reasons I got a new motherboard and SSD is because I won't have a car anymore. I "Shared" it with my brother and got it all summer since he was away, though now he's getting it for university (three years) since he refused to live on campus (Despite my parents paying for everything). Here she is: [thumb]http://niggaupload.com/images/9cQ3.jpg[/thumb] at least I got this accomplished:

So you moved from OC, to Diamond Bar, then moved out of CA? Or are you still in Diamond Bar. That being said, it's either AT&T shitty ass 6 meg, or COX.
iiwhat
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iiyama_(company) Wikipedia says high end monitors so they must be good.

The moved to Georgia in 2011. I'm moving again in 2013 but idk to where yet, maybe Irvine again since I know a lot of people there so a job wouldn't be too hard to find. I hope. I have Comcast now. It's not too bad, better than Cox and I refuse to use AT&T which is the only other option here in Decatur.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iiyama_(company) Wikipedia says high end monitors so they must be good.
Fairly sure that's the shortest Wikipedia page I've seen.

trying to find my user ID for school, I go to the registration page. I type in the wrong number, and it gives me an error. The URL told it what error to show. Not "signin.php?error=badlogin". Nope. I saw "login.php?error=wrong+2e+username+..." get the picture

Has anyone else noticed that little bits and pieces of their computer will stop working when Windows wants to update? I've had my ethernet and sound simply stop working until I reboot and apply the updates. :tinfoil:
