Oh yeah, after running my shiny new gaming PC on shitty onboard audio and inbuilt speakers in my TV, I figured I should get some proper speakers and a decent soundcard. 2.1 is preferred for the speakers, any suggestions for either or where I should go for advice?
Bohb being... well... bohb http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1209925&p=37638445&viewfull=1#post37638445 [editline]12th September 2012[/editline] Oh fuck dammit, i missed my 6000th post.
If it's a shiny new PC you probably don't need a sound card. Go to the headphones thread, really, we tend to deal with anything audio over there.
what differentiates grooveshark from spotify?
Grooveshark is available in countries other than US
Grooveshark is available in countries other than US
Hey, Spotify isn't all that bad. I'm in Au and using it right now.
Actually I don't need that much for a phone. Spotify does annoy me, sometimes. Lack of FLAC support is extremely annoying. It's weird though, They always have the little known artists, the stuff that's hard to get otherwise, and then they have the larger artists, but the medium known artists, they never seem to have, or don't have all of their stuff. It's annoying since a lot of my library is just that and I can't fill in the blanks since I have it all in FLAC...
I personally can't remember the last time I've used optical media.
I use optical media all the time, I just kinda like having a physical copy and actually use it. Wouldn't have space nor motivation to rip all my DVDs onto my computer either. Like Antec and, well, ASUS.
If it's a shiny new PC you probably don't need a sound card. Go to the headphones thread, really, we tend to deal with anything audio over there.
Unless the mobo uses realtek, in which case, save yourself the time and spend $20 on a better soundcard
Uhm actually Realtek worked really great for years on my ASUS mobo, unlike the VIA card on my new one.
Every mobo I've had for the past 10 years has had Realtek. Works fine, they weren't cheap ones either. 780i Tri Sli X58 Extreme 4
A lot of people (Including me) get problems in games by having realtek audio
Isn't Realtek HD audio basically a standard?
I've only ever encountered that when I haven't updated the ancient drivers that came with the hardware.
For most cases, Realtek is fine. Unless you're spending atleast £100 on headphones you won't need a dedicated sound card, and after that you should be buying an amp/dac combo (eg FiiO) anyway.
I hate Threadless. They declined my design because it wasn't to the right "standard" even though there are many designed already approved and submitted to the Minecraft contest which have no effort put into them at all.
A lot of people (Including me) get problems in games by having realtek audio
Why would it have problems specifically with games?
A lot of people (Including me) get problems in games by having realtek audio
If you're using onboard sound, then disable NVIDIA / AMD HDMI audio drivers (or vice-versa).
But this is the point, I didn't invade it because it was already there when I opened the laptop lid so saying I invaded his privacy when everything was in blown full view is an understatement and it doesn't make me disgusting at all.
Still gonna suck without Jobs.
I'm honestly excited for it. I'm fairly certain it's going to be the first A15 device, and that is going to be *awesome*. A15 is one fast fucker.
HDMI audio drivers (Nvidia/AMD) conflict with the Realtek HD drivers.
Even though I never encountered this, it would only be an user error because you didn't disable it or are trying to run multiple outputs when not supported.

I'm guessing A6 will be a 2Ghz Cortex-A15 Dual core, One of the new PowerVR G6400 or a SGX554, 2GB 800Mhz LPDDR3 on 28nm. That's my prediction.
I hope it has NFC so Google can port over Wallet, it would also be a fantastic addition to passbook.
