CIPWTTKT&GC v0x14 (v20): Turning it off and on all day every day

So I was going to wait until I got it but UPS pussied out and is waiting til monday to resume shipping my new 560ti 448. I have a question though. I think I'm going to be cutting it a little bit close with my 520w neo eco psu. the box of the gpu says 550w minimum and 38 amps on the 12v rail. I have 520w and 40 amps on the 12v rail. Do you guys think I can pull it off? How accurate is the box for power consumption?
Same chipset, yes, but for the same manufacturer, no, you don't.
So what combinations are possible, two cards with exact same model numbers but different makes (670 EVGA and 670 MSI) or two cards of the same gen and same make (650 EVGA and 680 EVGA)?

EVGA and MSI 670 is the only one possible.

You'll be fine.

Typically same models from different manufacturers. I know with Crossfire you can put say.. an HD 6950 and a 6970 in Crossfire but it'll act like HD 6950 Crossfire. Don't know if SLI does this as well.

I think SLI would refuse to work with a different model. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I haven't done this myself, this is just what I've heard. Quite possibly wrong here.
SLI makes very few concessions for different models. It won't work with two cards unless they have the same number of cores, and are from the same generation (which can be hard to tell, since they have so many rebadged cards). The only time it will "downgrade" a card to work in SLI is to underclock it.
Crossfire is willing to do more to make multi-card work. It will disable cores if needed, maybe do other things. I'm still not sure how well it handles inter-generation stuff (ie. can you run a 6xxx card and 7xxx card?)

I'm pretty sure they have to use the same core design. So you could have two Tahiti cards in Crossfire but not a Tahiti and a Pitcairn. Wikipedia seems to corroborate that.
GPU in the same series can be crossfired with each other. So a 5800 series GPU (e.g. a 5830) can run together with another 5800 series GPU (e.g. 5870). However GPUs not in the same hundred series cannot be crossfired successfully (e.g. a 5770 cannot run with a 5870).
soo $220 for a 560ti 448 is a good price right? ($180 after rebate)
Played a good bit of BMS and I gotta say the very start of Unforeseen Consequences is much more emotional when you can see facial expressions and hear people dying and with that music for a background.
And now that I actually know it's Kleiner and Eli I noticed the fridge brilliance in the equipement malfunction that they try to fix, which gets them away from the control room and prevents their deaths.
Anyone know why I'm getting incredibly bad SLI scaling (I.E. none) in Skyrim. I wanted to actually play it now with all my mods loaded and I'm getting like 15fps with my options all up. I should be getting like 70-80fps: http://puu.sh/15d6P

I updated to the latest 306.23 and no change.

Fixed it. Had to go into Nvidia Inspector and add the TESV to the skyrim profile and getting 120fps

Oh my god, this looks so much better.
Fucking linen.
[editline]15th September 2012[/editline]
actually makes me want to do a hackintosh
i wonder what mac os would be like on a large screen
I don't use OSX, so I don't really know what the difference is
I'm assuming it's getting rid of all the denim and yellow notepad textures that iOS uses?
[editline]15th September 2012[/editline]
Seems to be what it is, I don't get why everyone has to make their OS look exactly the same on every device, all these iPhone style menus don't work well on something without a touch screen
Literally the only argument for skeumorphism is that people like it because they're familiar with the things it's supposed to represent but I bet not many iDevice users have used leatherbound day planners or old-timey microphones, compare with audio software which has a resemblance to real control panels DJs and mixers are likely to have used.

Yeah, I'm probably the lamest superhero ever.
Yeah? Well my solid metal Star Trek flash drive shocks me with 5V every time I try and unplug it from my Acer shitbox.
My laptop charger shocks anyone that touches any of the plugs for up to 10 sec after unplugging it from the wall. Great for making people get out of your way when trying to get out of a classroom
[SUP][/SUP]
doesn't skyrim have a 60 fps cap?
Nope.
I'm getting a solid 80fps maxed out with a GTX 670.
Does Skyrim have vsync?
Yup.
Yup.
You must have one of those fancy 80hz monitors!
