to be entirely correct:
now all you have to do is figure out how to make air pass through water
Have you ever blown bubbles through a straw?
Anyway as far as DIY air con goes, I don't think you can get much better than this:
So if the fan is powerful enough it is just going to sit there making fappy bubbly noises and not do particularly much.
The air that does get through will be cooled by the water. Though not very effectively because they will be large air bubbles with a small SA:V ratio. It's a bad design, and probably wouldn't cool the air down as much as he expected it to!

Does anyone know where any Geniuses live, so I can knock at their door at 2am if I need computer advice?
Those Apple "Geniuses" are far from geniuses. I had problems with my iPod not syncing right, so they asked me if I had rebooted my "iDevice", of course I had because otherwise I wouldn't be calling.
So instead of fixing my problem, they just gave me a new iPod.
Wait
Is the morality of these Apple ads "Our customers are morons whose priorities are completely wrong"
Ok so I need some purchasing advice from y'all.
I plan on getting a laptop stand for my desk since my laptop is too low to really be usuable for long periods of time at home, do any on you guys use stand or just hook it up to an external monitor?. I also need a new keyboard and mouse. I'm currently using G110 and a Cooler Master Sentinel. Budget for the mouse and keyboard is $200 usd.

wat
you know things called evaporative coolers exist right
(and youd pretty much need a small air compressor if you were attempting to "blow bubbles through water" with debatable cooling effect cause youd have to create enough air pressure to lower the water level to the bottom of the middle container)

Learn to deal with it. :v:
But nah, outside of the realm of Apple Wireless Keyboards and mechanical keyboards, I can't help you.

Generic Microsoft keyboard represent
Got it for free when i bought my computer and it's actually pretty decent. Nice to type on and pretty silent. Lack of media keys can be annoying, but i got the media functions mapped to my mouse and headset anyway. Good cheap option if you don't need anything fancy
point the fan downwards and viola
Uhm no, the same thing will happen. Air will get trapped by the water and is forced out through small openings in the chamber.

How long d'yall reckon a Hyper 212 fan would last if it was left at 100% 24/7
Two years or so? I'm okay with taking it apart to put some motor oil in it every so often
You know you're a massive geek if you are worrying about when to lubricate a standard desktop case fan

tldr if you don't feel like reading this asshole's babbling "terminal is inconvenient because i don't know how to use linux command line wah wah wah"
Oh my god, i'm a fucking idiot.
So there i was about 15 minutes ago wondering why my second graphics card wasn't showing again; previous mobo's second PCI slot broke had to wait 45 days odd? So there I go turning off the computer, cleaning it, making sure it was all in properly and everything was seated so i didn't leave anything out, and i do this again except with 3 different sli cables. Again i waited for the boot-up to see if the Nvidia driver was reporting both; It still failed, and it's only just now i've looked in device manager and someone has managed to disable it without me noticing the cheeky buggers.
Do Sony Vaio laptops suck?
There was an expensive as balls one at Best Buy. It was UGLY as FUCK, a jesus hating shiny white color scheme. I tried the keyboard, it was so, so mushy. So much worse than the Lenovos- I ended up getting a Lenovo on sale from Tigerdirect.com and I <3 it.
That was only one laptop, the one they had for sale. But are they just bad in general?

Sony's laptops are pretty good quality (I even own one), but they're overpriced.
Sony Vaios used to have really shitty build quality and hardware quality, i'm not sure of its current status. Also it's overpriced as mentioned above.
I remember my aunts VAIO PCG-FRV31
It caught fire.
[editline]30th July 2012[/editline]
The other month I replaced the smashed LCD screen on a 12 day old vaio, it was loads better, but still wasn't the best.
For those that follow me, the K90 video and Hard Reset part 1 is up on my channel.
I don't think I posted those on here before.
We have some clearence viaos at my job and clearence means we get to look at it and fiddle with it considering it's already open box or no box at all. The vaio we have in clearence right now is amazing. 8gb of ram and i5 processor and some nvidia card I can't remember for only 550, original price of laptop was like 1k

Well, I've had no bad experiences with mine. It's been dropped quite a few times (not by me, though) and it doesn't show yet. I've never seen the temps (neither the GPU nor CPU) go above ~65 under heavy loads, and ~72C under continous Prime95. And this was a pretty cheap model when I bought it. Overall, I can't really complain about much, it was the best for the price at the time, and it still gets the job done some 2.5 half years later. If anything, the battery life is pretty crap, but isn't really an issue in my case. I'm aware of that Sony makes some fairly crappy laptops, but they have very decent offerings as well. And their service is really one of the best I've encountered - they picked up my laptop on location, shipped in to Prague or something, waited 2 weeks for my call to repair it (had to fix it with insurance and so on), and then it was shipped home to me, again with private delivery. It was my friend that spilled soda in my keyboard, so it wasn't the laptop itself.
self-content
So I decided that I was going to switch back to Windows 7 (since I still had the partition all set up and I wanted a Gentoo install again). So I pop in my Windows XP disc and try to switch the boot handling around to Windows 7.
Somehow doing that caused my computer to power off and now there's no Windows boot files. My data partition's OK (therefore narrowly avoiding a heart attack), and I didn't check the Windows partitions enough to really be able to tell (because they're more or less expendable, worst that would happen is I'd need to install a few things again), but whoops.
Is there a recovery console in Windows 7 discs?
[editline]29th July 2012[/editline]
also the music player that comes with Ultimate Boot CD is shit - it doesn't even support shuffle
