Where's my droid is free, useful, easy to set up and easy to use. No reason not to use it on Android phones.
I personally use Seekdroid, got it while it was free in the Amazon Appstore. It has anti-theft functions too.

Yeah, though it is a one-time paid service, it does have some very nice functions and I would also recommend it
Lookout and avast! are good
Avast is great to have on your phone anyway, so many root functions that are useful
I've heard that Prey's good as well. Also free.
Also, hooray, my thousandth post!
Yo dudes, speaking of tracking apps and the like, are there any good tracking softwares for windows PCs?

As I just mentioned, Prey is also available on Windows.
A friend of mine has teamspeak on his HTC Desire and when he was in the woods he lost it. So now the phone is always on teamspeak .
If he has Gingerbread or lower, he could install Plan B from the play store from his computer, then I think you need to send it a text message and you'll be able to activate the GPS.
Would those GPS cards work even after reinstalling the OS? Because if then that'd be pretty damned useful
well you could have a gps card that has a GSM chip and it's battery is recharged by the psu
My thinkpad has Vpro
Even if it got reformatted, i could still get control of it.

Irrelevant, it's a ThinkPad, you can use it as a melee weapon to protect yourself against theft and the laptop will remain in the same condition.
My Dell has some BIOS level tracing stuff but I've never touched it, as you can only set the settings once.

Another feature i love is the active HDD protection. It lets me throw it on the sofa and it's just fine.
And it surprisingly doesn't destroy the sofa.

And when you open the laptop it automatically wakes, that's pretty good too.
Pepper;37006264']And when you open the laptop it automatically wakes, that's pretty good too.
Can you have both that and not have it automatically sleep upon closing the lid? Sometimes I close a laptop just to move it a few metres and would rather that it wouldn't try to sleep during that time.
I mean, are the settings independent. If the wake-on-open even is a setting.
not have it automatically sleep upon closing the lid?
Just disable it in the settings of whatever OS you're using.
Works on my ThinkPad Edge, at least.
Yessssss
Maybe I should get a job and get a melee weapon - semi-portable computing device then

In pretty much all operating systems, you can also change the behaviour depending on if you have a charger connected.
Here's Windows 7:

Yeah I know I was just wondering if the auto-wake was tied to that
Handy if you install a mini-PCIe GPS card.
have one you would recommend?

It's hard to wake something up that is not sleeping.
Neat, the GPS / 3G modem card that didn't come with my laptop is only $15 on eBay. The wires are still in the card bay.
I don't think I'd use it though, since I have a smartphone that I can mount on my dash...
So any suggestions for those monitors?
Samsung is making displays that are going to beat apples retina screen. source
I can gladly say that my next main laptop will be a thinkpad.

The only thing stopping me from just selling my HP 6730s is that the GPU is more powerful than the one in the thinkpad.

Why haven't Samsung made high resolution monitors yet. Apple's going to Retinize the iMac within a year or two, so they should actually try and be active about doing it instead of waiting for Apple to do it.
Just installed the Visual studio 2012 RC.
This visual style Microsoft are going for just looks so untidy to my eyes. :s Slightly differing coloured panes with nothing separating them... What's so wrong with a border?
I want to buy a 4k Screen about 37"
make it happen Samsung.
Unfortunately not, your main concern is driver support I guess.
But a few of the GPS cards I've seen are also 3G modems too, which is nice.
When I've scraped enough money together for a Thinkpad I shall be buying one too, it's not worth the money buying one for my crappy old Acer Aspire.
Keep in mind that you also need the antennas for the GPS, it won't work too well through the RF sheilding and the motherboard. Also, the SIM card slot isn't always on the card itself.

I am interested, please link me to this card.
