Samsung is making displays that are going to beat apples retina screen. source
Isn't LG making those displays anyway?
Huh.
So one of my duties at work is making our software work with all kinds of different card readers and such. Normally we start by getting a test unit of the actual hardware, although we've done it backwards before (one time, the first time we tested it ourselves was at an industry convention - not cool).
So we get a new one in today. They'd told us ahead of time that it would need some assembly. Not a problem, I figure.
The package contained:
1x reader unit, with case + mounting screws and about eight wires coming out the back
1x control unit, basically a mobo with a ton of I/O terminal blocks (like the top one here) and an ethernet port
Notably not contained:
A power supply
A case for the control unit
A wiring diagram (although we did get a pinout for the reader unit).
So I have to somehow figure out a way to get +12V DC to this thing without electrocuting anyone who uses it. And I already checked - it's not Power over Ethernet.
Oddly, the wiring diagram I found online has some... oddities. Like so:
Control Power Supply
power in <---> +12V DC
ground <---> -12V DC
Yeah. If it fries, NOT my fault. Hopefully they're just ambiguously using a joint neutral/ground (and labeling it "ground"), but if not...

Tell them you got a defective package, and explain that it's missing like 75% of what you need.
maybe in a window. But you can't do Eyefinity/Surround on three different sized monitors. They have to all be the same resolution.
I got eyefinity working with no problems using a 1080p monitor and a 1280 x 1024 monitor.
It looked like shit and it scaled it to an obscure resolution, sure, but it certainly didn't disallow me from doing it.
[editline]30th July 2012[/editline]
Unless it's different for some reason across three monitors, I wouldn't know.

Unlikely - it took far too long just to get this much. And from what I can gather from the manual, you're *SUPPOSED* to supply your own power... supply, even if you're a paying customer. It has instructions for a "Hypertronix power supply (not included)" - I may have gotten the brand wrong, but the not included bit was in there.
Power it in some unusual way. Stick a 7812 Regulator in a box fed from a firewire port. Solar panels taped to a CRT displaying white. Jump up and down on a Piezoelectric mat. Attach a little water wheel to a nearby tap.
Take a picture, then send it to the supplier of the device entitled "Look what you made me do".

Shag carpet and wool socks. Nice clean energy and healthy exercise at the same time :v:
I was just going to find an old computer PSU and find a way to hook it up to the 12V rail.
Probably overkill, considering it's a 2.5A device at maximum, but it should suffice.
I got my new Ripper XXL in. I put it ontop of the other :p
It's hard to wake something up that is not sleeping.
Yes but I could put it to sleep manually
Why haven't Samsung made high resolution monitors yet. Apple's going to Retinize the iMac within a year or two, so they should actually try and be active about doing it instead of waiting for Apple to do it.
The funny thing is that samsung actually makes the retina screens for apple.
Today at work we're doing a video on one of our mobile apps. I tried to work towards a Apple-ish look. My coworker was worried that her hands wouldn't do well for it. But with like like 2500watts of soft light pouring down, it will look fine.

Looks very nice brt
Anyone knows if the CoolIT Omni fits on a 7950?
This one

Look what my new kitten just did to my headphones.

Looks like I'm going to have to buy my third pair tomorrow...
Pics of cat. For scientific study of course.

and my favorite

Cats are the kind of tangent I don't mind sipwicket going into.
In other news, I got a letter today. Someone wanted to buy one of my domains for $40. I spat on the letter and shredded it. It was by one of those companies that just buy as many domains as they can and park them, normally with shitloads of ads. Not happening.

Do you realize what have you started?

A VERY good thing.
I don't mind cats but I'm not fond of them either.
I'm more of a dog person.
It's better than Speedtests

Just hook up 12v (the "+") to the 12v and ground (the "-") to the ground.
I'm pretty sure they aren't talking about a dual rail supply here (Actual +12, Ground, -12).

what about speedtests done on CAT5 cables?
And I finally saw the new Batman movie. Nobody got shot except that the seats shaked at every explosion from the sound.
And also went to the RHCP concert. Some drunk latvians kept bouncing around us, it rained half the time and one guy got towed away by two security guys.
And my phone fucked up, didn't like to connect to 3g at all. And my sister friends iPhone died. Won't ring, no matter what. And it was bought in last octobrr or november.

...why don't you just replace the wire?
He could probably solder that back together.
Even just strip them back a bit, twist them together and tape it up. It's ghetto but it'll hard. Also don't assume everyone has a solder, it seems everyone in H&S assumes that.

At first glance I thought that picture depicted wires partially embedded in skin or something like that
