Well this week getting ready for Quakecon sure has been hell so far. The worst story so far comes from one of my guys in my group, who was looking at getting a new computer for the event. He asked me to suggest him a part list for a $900 budget. Which I did, but when I asked if he needed help building it, he said, "Nah, my dad use to be into computers when he was a kid." So yah...... I just told him keep me in touch if he needed anything. Anyways, a week goes by without hearing from him. Eventually he posted something quite disturbing..... [img]http://filesmelt.com/dl/shitman.png[/img] While it was nice his parents paid for his parts, it was obvious that he got swindled by the Fry's associate. His specs came out to be, i7 Cpu (Never told what model) 16 gigs of ram 850 watt Raidermax PSU Evga 560 Asus P8 Z77-v LX Never found out hard drive, so probably a very expensive caviar black (Fry's associates make more commission on those.) Well it was pretty bad considering he spent over $1300 on it, just for a standard 560. Most of my friends voiced their opinion and suggested he return the parts, and get something more cost efficient. Got windows 7 on my SSD and have my 1TB for anything that isn't drivers/ms office/anti virus/firefox and now i'm getting used to telling installers to go install on Drive B:/

They at least aren't idiots, and don't try to screw you into getting stuff you don't need. Hell, I was about to purchase a 3960X, and they asked me, why not just get a 3930K and spend more on other things.

We are trained though not to go for the 500$ item that the customer doesn't need but offer a Good,Better,Best system where we offer atleast 3 items if possible all within the specs and price range. Obviously best being the best product we can offer that the customer wants then to the lowest price that still matches the customers needs. Honesty always sells here, The higher priced item may be a better name brand or be better quality. Or just have convinces that others don't have. commisson imo lets the good sales guys stand out. Flat pay rates causes sales people to get lazy and loose sales. When your paycheck is dependent on commission you think about serving the customer and getting sales. We never have an issue with sales people selling product they dont need or came in for 500gb hd and the sales guy said no get this 2tb 7200rpm WD black series [b]Edit: wow lol, pure.Joseph thanks for defending us[/b]
