Logitech products are real nice, yeah, but oh my god SetPoint is just terrible. Terrible. Sometimes it doesn't start. Sometimes it freezes shortly after starting. Sometimes it freezes spontaneously for several hours and after I notice it it starts inexplicably working again in a few minutes. Logitech shouldn't produce software. [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] I know this because I needed to remap one button on my MX518 (Which I still use!) :v:
SetPoint works fine for me there have been instances where I try to start pushing buttons before it finishes switching mouse profile but that's usually when I'm doing something really CPU intensive and I can't blame SetPoint for that
So my mom was a bro and lent me some money so I could buy a Nexus 7 at Best Buy until I get paid. I go over to the tablets section and ask one of the employees standing around if they have any, and he says "Oh yes" and starts walking toward the glass case under the demo units, "We should have a few in stock right here... Oh, it looks like we've sold the two we had in stock today". Got my hopes up, :( He said that their truck comes every monday and friday, so I'm going to try in two days. He also said that I could order online with in-store pick-up and they'll hold one for me.
Done, and I've mounted my 2nd fan.
Speedfan is hella bad. Use RealTemp
Well this week getting ready for Quakecon sure has been hell so far. The worst story so far comes from one of my guys in my group, who was looking at getting a new computer for the event. He asked me to suggest him a part list for a $900 budget. Which I did, but when I asked if he needed help building it, he said, "Nah, my dad use to be into computers when he was a kid." So yah...... I just told him keep me in touch if he needed anything. Anyways, a week goes by without hearing from him. Eventually he posted something quite disturbing..... While it was nice his parents paid for his parts, it was obvious that he got swindled by the Fry's associate. His specs came out to be, i7 Cpu (Never told what model) 16 gigs of ram 850 watt Raidermax PSU Evga 560 Asus P8 Z77-v LX Never found out hard drive, so probably a very expensive caviar black (Fry's associates make more commission on those.) Well it was pretty bad considering he spent over $1300 on it, just for a standard 560. Most of my friends voiced their opinion and suggested he return the parts, and get something more cost efficient. Then he posted this, Turns out his dad was never good with computers......
Wait, what's so bad about ibuypower? They never looked that bad to me.
"Your CPU is not supported" That's an awesome program!
You need a good CPU for it to work, ie Intel. Doohohoho. Jesus christ that was bad.
i dont like this ui pass chrome did now the icons are all wonky
Care to take a screenshot of the new UI? I am on Linux, so I can't really check.
Care to take a screenshot of the new UI? I am on Linux, so I can't really check.
It's not super noticable, they just tweaked the webpage icon, and the favorite icon
Wait, what's so bad about ibuypower? They never looked that bad to me.
They make expensive prebuilts. As always, you can save a lot by building your computer yourself.
Have you guys seen http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game already? Seems to be pretty awesome, and that they have a working thing already + developers seem to like it is pretty nice. Also Gabe is in that video with his awesomium beard.
How do you use that with glasses?
After a lot of frustration with my Zalman cooler, I finally put together my new build. I was pissed because the fins on the cooler extend so far that they cover the A1 RAM slot on my new motherboard. I was up in arms about having to single-channel my RAM when I realized; ooh, I can just dual-channel them with the A2 and B2 slots. Sure enough, booting Windows for the first time gave me the very reassuring "8.00GB of RAM" on that first start Welcome Screen. After having a Core 2 Duo and SATA 2.0 standards for such a long time, it's a very welcome change to have a less than 10 second boot to login screen and hard drive transfer speeds of 26MB/s. Halleluja.
They make expensive prebuilts. As always, you can save a lot by building your computer yourself.
They never seemed that expensive to me - I remember once finding one that was better than my self-built PC for cheaper, although that's probably because I'm used to overpriced shit in Australia.
Wait, what's so bad about ibuypower? They never looked that bad to me.
Well the fact the most "extreme gaming" setup for $1200 comes with only a GTX 550ti.....
Interesting thing I did today. One of the clients sent a joking email, a "purchase order" for a time travel app, to slow down time so we'd be able to finish the project on schedule. Well, I did the math for relativistic time dilation. If we accelerated the entire office to 0.1c (67,000,000mph, or around the world every 1.3 seconds), we would gain an extra hour, maybe hour and a half, each month. Based on the fuel efficiency of the Saturn V, and approximating the mass of the office at 1Mg, it would take roughly $4x10^2604 worth of fuel to do so. That's four hundred billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion dollars worth of kerosene and liquid oxygen. I'm tempted to reply, noting that "this may exceed our approved budget". In fact, that's more than the global GDP for the next 5x10^2590 years (for comparison, the heat death of the universe is expected sometime in the range of 10^100 years). But hey, that would give us a whole seven extra hours to work on this project!
tell your higher ups to open a store in batavia. great location, thirty minutes between both buffalo and rochester. two minutes from my house
We are opening 4 new stores in 2013, Dunno if it's public or not yet but I received and email from the president of the company stating that. We are opening one in queens should be the first out of the bunch. I believe they go by the areas that people come from. Example being we have a huge majority who come from manhatten, bronx, queens area so it means our store in queens it's self would do a really nice job. I'm acutally being moved to the sales floor so if any of you guys do stop by or plan on it you can look for me, I can't give you any employee discounts obviously but help you out on the best deals we got going on or just talk tech.
How about a deal? We give you Wegmans, and in return we get Micro Center?
Retail jobs suck no matter how much employee discount they give you.
How about a deal? We give you Wegmans, and in return we get Micro Center?
If it was upto me there'd be a micro center store in every FP'ers closet. Edit: Retail sucks if you get a shitty retail job, Theres always opportunity to make more money and most customers can always be handled.
Retail jobs suck no matter how much employee discount they give you.
I used to have a job at a hobby and electronics store, back when it was the thing I loved the most, I got a 20% discount on most things, I got to teach people of the thing I loved, I got to play the thing I loved for work and I got paid for it. The only times the job sucked it when we had to clean up after people with muddy boots or parents with 7 kids. [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] Well then. That was interesting.
