Seasonic replaced my 6-month old fried 620W with a new unit no questions asked and it's coming monday yay [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] also got my laptop but I hear a loose screw or something and one of the rubber foot pads fell off
The footpads fell off? Where did you get it from
The footpads fell off? Where did you get it from
ASUS refurbished I dunno, I just shoved it back in and it stayed there though. [editline]f[/editline] Laptop seems alright. I'm pretty sure I heard something loose in there but after a while of turning it it stopped shaking so I assume it just got lodged in anything. Running rthdribl and prime95 makes temps get up to 60-65 in speccy, which seems okay considering my desktop gets that much.

I'm 100% sure I'll end up fusing the motherboard to the bottom of this netbook if I run Prime95 on it.

Just got tracking info for my 32GB usb 3.0 flashdrive. Shipping from 'Whitestown, IN'. aka, 30 minutes away from me. Will it still take 5-8 days to ship, or will it get here today/tomorrow? I'm very surprised that it's so close! Nothing has ever been shipped from Indiana!

oh god 1920x1080 on a 15.6" monitor is so small i get a minor headache just by looking at it
To be fair, it is an intro.
To be fair, it is an intro.
Unless it's deliberate to make students flinch and then go "and this is how not to do it", Then it's still pretty bad
Can I get permission to create a "Getting to know everybody" thread (complete with photos of yourself, a little bio perhaps etc) or would Sipwicket prefer somebody else to do it. [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] I don't mind if you guys don't want it, just thought it would be better to have a seperate thread than post them in here.
oh god 1920x1080 on a 15.6" monitor is so small i get a minor headache just by looking at it
Why? Do you not have DPI scaling?

The last few pages of Post Your Servers has some pretty nice content. 12voltsdc has a pretty nice server setup. He had problems with write speeds (and he cannot use ESXi even after we linked him to tutorials but that's another story), so he replaced his NIC without even checking if it's faulty. It turns out that his RAID card is probably faulty but he won't replace it. So he bought a gigabit NIC and posted a picture of his server yet again, but I noticed something new. His fancy-ass switch has SFP (fibre) connectors. I ask him why didn't he buy a fibre NIC instead, twice or more speed for the same price. He started rating me dumb and telling me he knows way more than us and how we should shut up. Then wingless showed up in the thread, telling him about his mistake. He still stood by his opinion that fibre should not be used in anything but SANs. He claims that he is the queen of England after wingless tells him to reconsider because she, as a sysadmin, has a bit more experience in the area. He calls his FT friends to rate us dumb. After calling him immature and questioning the ownership of his "servers", 12voltsdc states that he is 14, not 12 (huge difference, right guys, right?) and he bought a whole rack using his very own money. After telling him that he does not own anything until he is 18, he used the credit card his dad gave him, used the money his parents gave him and he should just gift away his rack to people who can actually use it (current usage of the server is: Minecraft, FTP, Source games, bear in mind it's a Quad Xeon), he finally leaves the thread. Fast forward to now, 12voltsdc proudly states that he bought a 2nd gigabit Ethernet NIC, but he cannot configure ESXi to recognize it. People in the thread tell him politely to give his server away because they cannot tolerate his incompetence anymore. I question him why doesn't he buy a fibre NIC and just replace the fucking RAID card. He responds by saying that fibre is only for storage and SANs and it's since he doesn't do either, it's totally useless to him (oh boy I wonder why does he need 5TB of space and why does he want to buy another 2TB, it is totally unlikely that he wants to store data, especially when he listed FTP in his usage too). tl;dr: Kid gets amazing server equipment, cannot use it, does not listen to advice (angsty-14-year-old syndrome), incapable of learning, and he should give his server away.
So what you're saying is, wingless is a woman?
Yes. I was confused before too.
I was a little unsure at first, but I think it's pretty cool, not often I see (I know it's a forum but still) females that are into technology. Makes a nice change.

[editline]11th August 2012[/editline] Still waiting on my pebble watch, still two more months left, and now I an OUYA to wait for as well. Hmpf waiting.

I don't post in here much as I don't have much to contribute but I love you guys, a tight-knit community of people who know what they're talking about.
Casually browsing amazon, looking at these out of curiosity Scroll down, notice this.. Really? And for only £49? And you get that trackpad thing too?! What a bargain :v:
A bug died under the outer layer of my LED monitor... got a 1.3mm dead thrip stuck in the centre of my screen and it looks like a damn ' god damnit.
This is seriously annoying me to the degree that I want to take my monitor apart now.
