Vote no. There's not enough content to warrant an entire subforum.
The subforum isn't so much about being content filled as it is to be a central location to find these threads.
I'd like this to be done

Threads are only to be posted by providers, no threads asking about a provider or where you should get on.

I agree with everything but this. If there is a services subforum, shouldn't people be able to ask questions about other services in there? What if someone wants to know if anyone else has used X host?
Also, if someone's satisfied with their current web host, why can't they make a thread about it?
I understand that this would make the subforum more cluttered, but if it is for services, all topics relating to service should be in there.
maybe the providers should get their threads stickied, all the other threads stay at the bottom
Voted yes, would like it to be a much more general forum regarding services though, including where people can ask what host suits them best (going off their bandwith/space/use preferences).
Naturally, unconstructive replies like 'you are too expensive, go with johndoe hosting' should not be allowed, instead more constructive replies should be made.
No, bring back the marketplace.
I vote yes for this
But we should have a verified section and unverified sections?
It's just a thought
No, bring back the marketplace.
Or this. The marketplace was awesome. Perhaps have a services subforum in it?
Yes.
Win win, providers get people, people find providers.
Yes.
Providers can mean more than just web hosts, you realise.
Threads are only to be posted by providers, no threads asking about a provider or where you should get one or how dan was boobies.
Make a subsection for discussions, or are we pushing it then?
The possibility of providers being stickied and then regular threads being pushed down is a possibility, but that could turn out to be a lot of stickies.
I like this idea!

Another thing would be bumps. Everyone will try having their service at the top 24/7 to gather the most customers, and some strict moderation would have to be used. :colbert:
I love the idea, but there's just a lot of little things that kills it.
Voted NO
Well that's that guys, pack your bags. :smith:

Bring back market place on the first page
This isn't Amazon, it's a forum
This isn't Amazon, it's a forum
It's a community, and communities trade.
It's a community, and communities trade.
Communities discuss. Especially this community.
This is not an advertising forum for companies.
I was mainly referring to the marketplace idea with that.
Even so, I wouldn't expect every odd company to come in here and plug their crap. It should be for Facepunchers who run something that might be of interest to other Facepunchers. I'd certainly be interested in supporting an FP'ers business.

good job garry
I think moderators should have to get proof and then put someone in a 'Provider' group that has the permissions to create a new thread in that section.
