Got bored about all this, gonna regret posting this but who cares [editline]26th August 2011[/editline]
I was hoping for a Gameboy like PC/netbook.
I used to think that Razer just sold overpriced, shitty mice. Then I saw this, and now I know they sell overpriced shitty laptop/game things too.
Aren't the razor blade and razor switchblade two seperate laptops?
Comment on one of the videos had 11 thumbs up:
can* it play facebook apps ok?
HNNNNG.
"We had to buy our own manufacturing capabilities to even get to this point, as no one wanted to make specific components for us, so we essentially acquired some of the key assets. We bought an entire ODM recently in Taiwan because we wanted to be able to control all facets of design. That's how important it is to us," he told Ars.
Looks like Razor is confident it'll sell. After all, Apple made a fortune on much the same target market of idiots.
Well it's great. If you're rich
Well it's great. If you're rich
And also dumb
Aren't the razor blade and razor switchblade two seperate laptops?
The Switchblade was just the concept design, the Blade is the real thing.
And also dumb
Don't see how you'd be dumb by buying this if you had the money to drop. The SwitchBlade UI is really nice and can definitely be useful. The hardware isn't terrible, and it is a genuinely really thin laptop.
And the price is extortionate.
Why is everyone here hating on razer? I have a Razer keyboard and a Razer DethAdder and they're amazing...
I want this so bad. but 2700 dollars? :(

Who cares about the switchable buttons anyway, it's cool but not worth it for that price.
Comment on one of the videos had 11 thumbs up:
can* it play facebook apps ok?
HNNNNG.
I always wondered why when someone quotes a youtube comment, those *s start appearing randomly. Is it something with facepunch?
Why not just buy a regular laptop with the same specs but much cheaper. Honestly, you could pick up a better laptop for $1,500: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152284 but as a developer the SwitchBlade UI is REALLY really appealing, and experimenting with it sounds like a lot of fun.
The Switchblade was just the concept design, the Blade is the real thing.
They are two completely different things, the Blade is a laptop the Switchblade was a handheld.
What the fuck are they thinking, that's much too expensive Sell a similar product with a normal backlit keyboard and charge $300 I want a product of similar size. [editline]26th August 2011[/editline]
I want this so bad. but 2700 dollars? :(
Wait I think they're talking about the Blade, not switchblade
I would get one.. if it was a normal notebook. Looks pretty sleek n shit.
I don't see why is anyone hyped about this, It's just a netbook with a LCD keyboard similar to the optimus maximus and no touchpad or pointing devices, Plus it's too big to be handheld and too small to have decent hardware, besides Razer has a bigger tax than "Apple Tax". It's just a big fat gimmick, If you want portable gaming just go for an iPod Touch or the Samsung Galaxy Player.
What you don't get is the fact that it isn't meant to play simple iPhone games or Android games. It supposed to run real full fledged games, even if it is at a lower setting. I have never bought a Razer product, and I probably won't in the near future, but they are mainly trying to lie down the foundation for future PC gaming portable products. Yes, it's expensive, but just wait for the price to drop.
They are two completely different things, the Blade is a laptop the Switchblade was a handheld.
Uhhhh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6X7_IJuwwk He calls it a laptop in this vid, and even the thread title is "Switchblade Gaming Laptop" ... It's a hand held in so far as it's really small and thin...but so is the Blade, so....
If it had a 10.1" screen size, much lower specs but enough to play modern games at low/medium, the battery was great and it was still thin and portable it would be worth buying.

They still have the switchblade area on the website and they did have working concepts at 2010's E3. Could still happen.
