I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. It's absurdly overpriced, but the hardware is nowhere near sub-par. Just because that stuff is a year old, it doesn't mean it isn't good.
Also, is there anything wrong with boot camp? (genuine question) Is the functionality any worse that that of a 'native' Windows machine? A friend of mine used boot camp on his Mac and it seemed to play games just fine, but I didn't get to use it personally.
As far as I know, it's running natively.
When I used bootcamp on the family iMac the fan drivers aren't installed and stay a the lowest speed whatever the temperatures.
Half an hour of TF2 made the GPU get to like 110 degrees
Googling the problem came up with more people with the same problem and no fix from apple
There was a fix called SMCfan control but you have to install it in macOS and for the speeds to work in windows you have to reboot.
And the GPU is pants too
A stupid 8800GS

Also yes, its running natively.

Congrats, yet again you're going to turn another thread into a flame war. He didn't ask for your opinion on macs, he asked you how well CrossOver Games would work. Since you obviously don't know, what's your point of being here?

Ifaux, there is no flame war. It's not helping the thread at all, but no one is flaming.

Hey, I've just tried to help OP, and I'm not saying he shouldn't get a Mac or anything. It's you who's threadshitting this with unrelated posts, not me.
Go away ifaux, you aren't contributing to this thread.
Pepper;30991150']Why on earth would you run games in parallels?
It's like an emulator; some games work, some run not very well and others fucksplode
And installing windows on the mac defeats the purpose of owning a mac.
Just build a desktop
Make a thread saying what country you're in, your budget and what you are going to use it for
Building it is like a really easy puzzle.
Yeah instead of installing multiple operating systems on the one computer, let's all just buy a completely separate computer for each OS

Agreed. If he wants a mac, he can get one. He is asking if Crossover works well, not if what computer he should get
Yeah instead of installing multiple operating systems on the one computer, let's all just buy a completely separate computer for each OS
Heard of hackintosh?
guys he's not asking "will this mac play games well hurr durr", he's asking whether or not CrossOver works. It's likely that he's already thought out his reasons for not building a much more cost-effective computer, so there's no need to just keep saying "lol ur paying 4 shit hardware lol i bet u like it just bcuz its shiney". That's a pretty asinine view to take of things. Some people actually, get this, like macs. You may not, and they are, admittedly, a worse deal than just building your own computer, but your opinions don't actually matter in this case. Yes, i know, it's hard to understand, but OP doesn't give a fuck how little you spent on your computer in relation to his, he only cares about whether or not his will be able to play games at all.
Congrats, yet again you're going to turn another thread into a flame war. He didn't ask for your opinion on macs, he asked you how well CrossOver Games would work. Since you obviously don't know, what's your point of being here?
That's stupid
I don't see personally problems on Macs, but what's the point of having a iMac if you're going to run Windows on it in order to play games.
That's like having a Wacom Cintiq but you're using only it for copypasting things through Photoshop
OP, as for your question, games likely won't work very well if at all in CrossOver, and bootcamp can be pretty iffy on macs. If necessary, you can use bootcamp and install windows to play games, and OSX for everything else, but there's no guarantee that it will work well.

wow fuck off u broke my automerge :((((
Pepper;30995622']Heard of hackintosh?
Holy crap. The guy didn't say "Tell me what computer to get", he asked if CrossOver Games would work with, y'know, games.
I'll *actually* answer, unlike the majority. OP, while CrossOver Games worked pretty well with most Source games on my Macbook, you pretty much have no reason to install CrossOver for them because most are already ported to OS X. For other games, well, Bootcamp is the best option there. You could try running them through CrossOver Games, however.
You can search games and other applications here, and it'll tell you how well they work with CrossOver.

He is, and I agree, the Mac is shit in a shiny case. OSX is the only thing that changes your experience using one (apart from the intermitantly crippled mouse)
Pepper;30995622']Heard of hackintosh?
I have indeed. They also aren't as good as a Mac. You might get better hardware than you would from a Mac, but updating is always a lottery (it was when I had it, even though I ran a pretty standard Mac-like config for my PC).
He is, and I agree, the Mac is shit in a shiny case. OSX is the only thing that changes your experience using one (apart from the intermitantly crippled mouse)
do you not realize that you can use pretty much any mouse with a mac?
don't see personally problems on Macs, but what's the point of having a iMac if you're going to run Windows on it in order to play games.
Because perhaps they prefer OS X?
just saying, that's a non-issue, and you shouldn't be bringing it up

I'm commenting on what it has with it out of the box.

most prebuilts have pretty shitty mice too but that has nothing to do with the quality of the computer itself
Because perhaps they prefer OS X?
Like I said, I see no problem in the OS X, it's pretty good shit, but if OP is going to use Windows on a Mac because his only purpose is to play games, that's just silly then.
Or a simpler solution, he buys a little Macbook for usual stuff, and a good budget PC for his games. Everybody wins.
most prebuilts have pretty shitty mice too but that has nothing to do with the quality of the computer itself
I'm pretty sure every prebuilt I have ever seen has a mouse which responds perfectly to left and right clicks the first time you lightly press the button.

isn't he the only one to post a website where OP can check compatibility with games he might be playing? to be perfectly honest you guys who are talking about how shitty macs are are the ones threadshitting, you aren't even addressing OP's problem for the most part

i've never had a problem with mac mice. To be fair I haven't used many, but I haven't had one that just didn't respond to clicks.
