most prebuilts have pretty shitty mice too but that has nothing to do with the quality of the computer itself
exactly. most people are complaining about the shitty old Apple Mouse that doesnt even exist anymore: [thumb]http://img.engadget.com/common/images/2130359713636671.JPG?0.9099284156693608[/thumb] Some people want to use OSX without hackintoshing. With hackintoshes, you never know when an update might screw stuff up. I dual boot Windows Vista just to play Half Life 1 and Sim City 4, and use OS X for all my source games. [editline]8th July 2011[/editline]
I'm pretty sure every prebuilt I have ever seen has a mouse which responds perfectly to left and right clicks the first time you lightly press the button.
never had an issue with this either [editline]8th July 2011[/editline]
Like I said, I see no problem in the OS X, it's pretty good shit, but if OP is going to use Windows on a Mac because his only purpose is to play games, that's just silly then. Or a simpler solution, he buys a little Macbook for usual stuff, and a good budget PC for his games. Everybody wins.
He could just want to do casual gaming every once in a while (like me) on his Mac, without having to dual boot or have 2 computers.
i've never had a problem with mac mice. To be fair I haven't used many, but I haven't had one that just didn't respond to clicks.
Odd, I've seen a class of 34 people who couldn't get the thing to click properly upon their first use of the computer, staff included.
Odd, I've seen a class of 34 people who couldn't get the thing to click properly upon their first use of the computer, staff included.
Were they brand new mice? They were probably abused by old students (like the PC mice at my school)
i stopped posting as soon as i answered OPs question, get all of the cum out of your eyes
He mad. [editline]8th July 2011[/editline]
Were they brand new mice?
Odd, I've seen a class of 34 people who couldn't get the thing to click properly upon their first use of the computer, staff included.
how surprising, mice used in a public setting suffering wear and tear. there are about 19 PC's in my school's APEX room, the mice are pretty much dead. You have to navigate with the keyboard. Everything breaks over time and use in a public place. [editline]8th July 2011[/editline]
He mad. [editline]8th July 2011[/editline] They were just bought this christmas.
did they buy them new or secondhand?
They were just bought this christmas. Otherwise in perfect condition too.
So they bought the Magic Mouse? Those are quite responsive for me
New.
if they can't figure out how to click a mouse that's pretty sad
if they can't figure out how to click a mouse that's pretty sad
Except you practicaly have to take all your weight off it to right click, otherwise it just sits there like a vegtable.
Except you practicaly have to take all your weight off it to right click, otherwise it just sits there like a vegtable.
unless you are firmly pressing down on the mouse like it is going to run away, i dont see how this is possible I use apple mice of all kinds, and this is never an issue
Like I said, I see no problem in the OS X, it's pretty good shit, but if OP is going to use Windows on a Mac because his only purpose is to play games, that's just silly then. I think the real solution is to just buy an iMac or wait the Xeon chip refresh for updated Mac Pros.
unless you are firmly pressing down on the mouse like it is going to run away, i dont see how this is possible I use apple mice of all kinds, and this is never an issue
Well, that is how you use a normal mouse, you just lay your hand on it.
Well, that is how you use a normal mouse, you just lay your hand on it.
laying your hand on a mouse is not firmly pressing down on it I lay my hand on my mice, whether it's an apple mouse, dell, hp, or whatever, and there is never an issue with this
laying your hand on a mouse is not firmly pressing down on it I lay my hand on my mice, whether it's an apple mouse, dell, hp, or whatever, and there is never an issue with this
Allright, you seem to have no problem with this, but an entire class did.
Allright, you seem to have no problem with this, but an entire class did.
the entire class doesnt know how to rest their hand, they only know how to press down on things then
He mad.
Let me guess, he sent that via PM? You can try and report that PM to a mod.
But then that's stupid, if you want to use OS X, and want to play games, suggesting using two computers just opens up a huge can of worms, even if the two computers have two mutually exclusive purposes. Not to mention a cheap iMac for casual browsing, video editing (one of the few things i can justify owning a Mac for) and similar, while a separate stationary PC for games is a both cheaper (in terms of pc game power) and flexible solution (game is loading? well browse the web on the iMac)
do you not realize that you can use pretty much any mouse with a mac?
Too bad polling rates above 125Hz suffer on OS X
Too bad polling rates above 125Hz suffer on OS X
haven't actually used a mac for any extended period of time since ~2008, so i can't remember if there were any problems like that. sorry!

That's hardly stingy or too little for a decent iMac. And as i said, owning two computers is just generally more awkward than not. Trying to justify having both an iMac and a PC by saying you could browse the web (something which a phone can do well nowadays) while the PC is loading stuff is stupid. Of course a PC will result in more raw performance for the price, but the OP has a preference for a Mac/OS X.
Dr.Egg is right, I like OSX I wanna play games. [editline]8th July 2011[/editline] Also, Who says I'm gonna use an apple mouse for gaming? I plan to guy buy a razor mouse for gaming.
just make sure that if you go down the bootcamp route get SMCfancontrol because it will turn into an incinerator in there without it causing this
Dr.Egg is right, I like OSX I wanna play games.
I hope you got the dosh to burn and like to dualboot
Also, Who says I'm gonna use an apple mouse for gaming? Macs should be used for gaming only when there is no other option. You can play a lot of source games, but everything generally runs faster on a Windows computer.
Macs should be used for gaming only when there is no other option.
if you have a mac and pc with the same specs running a source game with the same settings, I doubt it will be faster on the pc
Wasn't it the contrary? Because I remember there was a decrease of performance for the same hardware on a iMac with OsX on, in some review.
Wasn't it the contrary? Because I remember there was a decrease of performance for the same hardware on a iMac with OsX on, in some review.
Dunno, but my Mac runs them really well
a mac is a good computer if you use software that comes exclusively on it. e.g. basically only garageband afaik. seriously, building a pc is like putting together a 20 piece puzzle. the hardest part is mounting the motherboard [editline]9th July 2011[/editline] oh yeah final cut is on there too but if you're doing professional video editing then you have the cash for a better pc for the same GODDAMNED PRICE
Well, I like OS X and wat to be official with it and not do a hackintosh, The same reason I decide to quit Game Warez Last month.
Well, I like OS X and wat to be official with it and not do a hackintosh, The same reason I decide to quit Game Warez Last month.
if you like the mac feel so much you can just put an install of darwin or some linux variety on there and theme it so it's like OSX instead of spending oh say 3x the amount you need to [editline]9th July 2011[/editline] http://sourceforge.net/projects/mac4lin/ seriously you don't need to spend a shit ton of cash
