And now that I have it uninstalled completely (so i'm not running it) I'm back to the grey taskbar. Not the Aero, the flat, grey, blocky, default one.

When you uninstall it everything returns back to normal. Perhaps you just need to re-apply the aero theme? Sounds like you're on Windows Classic.

As in, I've had to repair 4 times in one day.

Right click your desktop, choose personalization, then choose one of the themes listed under Aero themes. That should theoretically fix your problem.
