The problem I have with desktops like these is I never end up using the stuff on the desktop. I just cover it up with windows - like so:

That's why I only use Rainmeter for very little things - well actually at the moment just the volume bar.

It's just a part of the skin and I really don't mind having it there. It doesn't bother me that much at all.
Agreed, but when I used Rainmeter before I was always upset with the nonsensical skins. I ended up going in and removing everything that was useless.
What I [b]really[/b] want for Windows is something that works like KDE's Widget Dashboard.

I can put whatever I want there - RSS reader for the latest news, clocks, calendars, system info, weather, even a goddamn web browser if I felt like it. And if I close that all I see on my actual desktop is whatever I put THERE - in my case just that clock.
So kind of like Dashboard on OS X?

Just press the button in bottom right corner to show the desktop which you can place widgets on, then press it again to restore the windows.
I tend not to use the widgets though. I have a G15 keyboard with the little LCD screen which shows cpu, memory and network usage so it's cool.

If I use the Show Desktop thing, then the widgets would be on my desktop ALL THE TIME. Which I don't want.

I like the In Flames wallpaper but your desktop is just disgusting.
Try to use the Music library as storage for your music instead of your desktop, you know, the way it's meant to.

Bad things about the desktop:
- Too much Rainmeter. I'm fine with little hints of it but all that is bad.
- TOO MANY FUCKING DESKTOP ICONS.
- That visual style is the ugliest fucking thing I've ever seen this thread come up with.
- What possible reason could you have to show your ENTIRE system tray at all times? You're not running Windows 95, stop acting like you are.
- You're not consistent in your icons. Half your taskbar is Token (and you're using Dark on a black taskbar, totally visible)
Bad things about your computer habits (as evidenced by what is seen on your desktop):
- All your music is in FLV. Which means you're not only pirating music from YouTube (which is like stealing a Honda Civic, to use a car analogy), you're not even trying to convert it into a respectable format such as MP3.
- You're using VLC as a background music player. While this is probably because you're using fucking FLV (which is a bad format in general), VLC is also not that great at being a full blown music player. It's good for one-off file opening but that's about it.
- You have League of Legends and StarCraft II both on your dock and your taskbar. Obviously you're not very good at organization. Which means your "sorted" music files are probably just all thrown into a "Music" folder and renamed only when filenames conflict. Probably the same with your pictures and games (although I admit my image folder isn't exactly a bastion of hierarchical bliss).

What does "All My Files" mean? Is that what OS X calls your home directory?
